Three more MDC-M MPs gang up on Mutambara

Three more Movement for Democratic Change(MDC)- Mutambara faction Members of Parliament have joined the crusade against Party leader Arthur Mutambara. Two other Members of Parliament, joined two suspended MPs at a rally in Lupane. While Umzingwane MP,Nomalanga Mzilikazi Khumalo addressed a similar rally in her constituency in a clear sign that more party MPs are not happy with Mutambara’s leadership.

The rally held on Sunday afternoon at Emlonyeni ward in Lupane in Matabeleland North was attended by thousands of party supporters.

The rally was organised by Lupane East legislator, Njabuliso Mguni was also attended by Nkayi South Member of Parliament, Abedinico Bhebhe.

Bhebhe together with Mguni are part of the six party members suspended by the MDC-M for indiscipline.

The other high ranking party officials who attended the rally include the Lupane Senator Dalumuzi Khumalo, Tsholotsho South Member of parliament, Maxwell Dube, and all the party’s councillors from the Lupane Rural District Council.

Party supporters at the rally took Bhebhe and Mguni to task and accused them of misleading them by directing them to back the MDC-M.

The angry supporters said they were misled to believe that Mutambara was a good leader but they were surprised when they were later informed to vote for Simba Makoni.

In his address Bhebhe lashed at the party leadership and said their suspension was null and void.

“The decision to suspend us is null and void, when we split as the MDC there are some people who said they wanted to suspend Tsvangirai and today these are the same people who claim they have suspended us.

“We ask who shall suspend them? I know some of them wanted to suspend us a long time ago before they themselves were suspended by the people of Bulawayo during election time last year,”Bhebhe said amid applause from the crowd.

Asked on whether he was rejoining the MDC-T formation Bhebhe said the decision was up to the people who voted him into office.

Some of the party supporters encouraged Bhebhe to stand as an independent if he was expelled from the MDC-M.

“We were fooled to vote for the MDC-M and if Mguni and Bhebhe are expelled from the party they should stand as independents and we will vote them back into office,”said one party supporter.

In Umzingwane the constituency’s legislator, Nomalanga Khumalo, who is also the Deputy Speaker of the House Assembly, also held a rally at the weekend where she reported castigated the suspension and the party leadership.

Bhebhe and Mguni were suspended from the party together with four other party members who include Bulilima East legislator, Norman Mpofu, national executive members, Alex Goosen, Job Sikhala and the party’s national chairman for youth assembly, Gift Nyandoro.

In a related development the faction’s suspended National Youth Chairman,Gift Nyadoro has accused the party of tribalism.

In a open letter addressed to the Party President, Arthur Mutambara,Nyadoro accused Mutambara and the party senior leadership of promoting ‘tribal carnage’. “Your organization was modeled along perilous tribal lines’ failed to appreciate how a movement seeking to translate itself into national politics would remain secluded to Matebeleland. Firstly it was launched in Bulawayo, and it repeatedly carried out all of its major organizational activities into Matebeleland.”,wrote Nyadoro.

“Sir, you would certainly agree that efforts were once made by your organization on allegations that l labeled your Secretary General a tribalist. I recall well being advised by your national chairman Mr Mudzumwe that l was not allowed to attend national executive and council meetings because of the purported tribal allegation on my part. I got victimized because l had the guts to shame the devil.”,said Nyadoro.

The MDC Youth Chair went on to question if any of the Party’s Members of Parliament support the party’s leadership ,”God knows up to date who of the ten MP’S pays allegiance to your organization.”

Nyadoro further disassociated himself from the party and described his suspension as a nullity,”I decided to leave your organization quietly. In life we have the capacity to choose whether to worship Satan or God. It equally begs the question whether Satan can suspend Jesus Christ from his organization wherein Christ is never a member to it .Sir there is no way I can appear before a disciplinary hearing which is a nullity” said Nyadoro.
