Zimbabweans will get an opportunity to see the world cup trophy as it travels through Africa on its way to South Africa, venue of the 2010 World Cup finals, according to tournament organisers.
“Supporters will be given a rare close up view of the authentic FIFA world cup trophy. Football followers will get a moment where they can take pictures with the Cup. Tickets for the historic event will be sold at designated areas in countries where the tour will pass through,” confermed Togi Chinoda, spokesman for Coca Cola Zimbabwe.
On the other hand Zimbabwe`s backstroke magician Kirsty Coventry’s African record in the 50-metre backstroke has been broken by South African swimming star Chanelle van Wyk at the ongoing Telkom SA National Aquatics Championships.
The Cape Town-born swimmer posted a world championship qualifying time of 28.55 secs in the 50 metres backstroke as she eclipsed Kirsty`s.“I have been battling with injury to the rotating blades on both of my shoulders, so I am delighted with the time,” said Van Wyk.
“To better Coventry’s continental record and to post a world championship A standard qualifying time is really exciting.”she said
She eventually qualified for the FINA world Championships to be held in Rome in July.
Other names of people who will be participating at the FINA event, besides Coventry consist of Gerhard Zandberg, Lyndon Ferns, Darian Townsend, Jean Basson and Jasper Venter and all are from South Africa.

They should not take the cup to Zim Robert and his frends will make sure it will never come out of Zim again and then they will sell it to some guys in Asia and with the proceedes they will buy more Mansions in Malaysia and open more Malls.
Not everything should be about Robert. Give the guy a break.
Zimbos are the ones who will benefit from the experience of seeing the cup and that is that.
Robert on the other hand will keep on being Robert nothing changes.
Zimbos will win this fight against tyrany and robbery both by bhobho and the other ones who think we are too dumb to see whats going on.
