Job Description
Programme Adviser – documentation, knowledge management and information dissemination
Six-month placement
Please note that for this placement we are only able to consider applicants who are fluent in Shona and / or Ndebele.
The Batsirai Group is a Zimbabwean non-governmental organisation working to strengthen community responses to HIV and AIDS. Following a successful one and half year placement focussing on community mobilisation, organisational learning as well as participatory monitoring and evaluation, the organisation is currently seeking to consolidate its work in promoting community participation in HIV and AIDS interventions among its target beneficiary communities. The Programme Adviser will therefore assist in strengthening systems documentation, knowledge management, Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials production and dissemination.
The post holder should have a post-graduate diploma or degree in Computer Sciences, Information Systems, Media Studies, Development Studies, Social Sciences, or any other relevant discipline.
You should have a minimum of three years? experience in HIV and AIDS-related community development work – involving research, documentation, knowledge management, Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials production and information dissemination; and relevant practical experience in formal and informal training, capacity building and mentoring.
Fluency in Shona and/ or Ndebele; proven understanding of HIV and AIDS as a development and human rights issue; ability to assist in the development of knowledge management systems; proven understanding of the implications of poverty and gender inequalities especially with respect to HIV and AIDS are essential. As well as good interpersonal and communication skills and good command of English both spoken and written; empathy for people affected by AIDS and commitment to work with HIV+ people, and demonstrable commitment and empathy towards the aims and objectives of Batsirai.
Demonstrable competence in database creation and management, web development as well as production of IEC materials; experience in the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) in community development work, particularly HIV and AIDS-related initiatives; experience in the development and implementation of knowledge management systems; ability and willingness to support fundraising efforts; and a Valid Driving License are highly desirable.
