MDC expands negotiating team

The MDC has beefed up its negotiating team to include two extra observers of the power-sharing talks between the ruling ZANU-PF and the two formations of the Movement for Democratic Change. A move Political analysts say is meant to facilitate quick decision making by the representatives.
The MDC led by Morgan Tsvangirai will be represented at the talks by its Secretary General Tendai Biti,MDC-Harare East., and Deputy Treasurer Elton Mangoma,MDC-Makoni East.
Its Women’s Assembly Chairwoman Theresa Makone,MDC-Harare North., and Chairman Lovemore Moyo,MDC-Matobo South., will be on hand as observers. All four are Members of parliament.
A small MDC faction which has 10 crucial seats in parliament all of them from the southern part of the country is represented by its Secretary General Welshman Ncube and his deputy Priscilla Mushonga both lost their seats on the March 29 parliamentary election to the MDC led by Morgan Tsvangirai.
South African President Thabo Mbeki, appointed mediator for the SADC, had pushed for talks to get going on Tuesday immediately following the signing Monday of a Memorandum of Understanding setting the framework for the talks but were delayed due to last-minute ZANU PF consultations.

the zanu pf demands for the major ministries are a sign that they are only power hungry and do not have the people’s interests at heart. afterall zanu pf lost in the march elections, which were the fairest of all elections held since “independence”. to the zanu pf guys i say throw in the towel, you have had your chance to prove your worth and have failed to manage the economy. give others a chance. only God will rule forever! we have suffered enough while you were sitting pretty at the expense of the nation.
