Independent Tsholotsho MP Jonathan Moyo has reportedly confided to close friends that he will back a ZANU PF speaker, but only on one condition,if the candidate is not ZANU PF National Chairman John Nkomo.

The vicious former Information minister said he will likely vote for losing Mazowe MP Chen Chimutengwende, whose name was raised in the politburo meeting as a another likely candidate alongside ZANU PF National Chairman John Nkomo, Oppah Muchinguri, Patrick Chinamasa,Sikhanyiso Ndlovu and Chris Mushowe.

It is not clear why Jonathan Moyo would not back John Nkomo.

Meanwhile insiders in the both the Tsvangirai led MDC and the breakaway MDC faction revealed that some disgruntled MPs in the faction will support an MDC-T candidate against Paul Themba Nyathi whom they say was imposed on the MPs by the National Executive.

Without revealing the names of the legislators the MDC sources said the MPs aligned to Mutambara had assured them of their vote during next week’s elections to choose the powerful post of Speaker of Parliament.

“We are together in this struggle. We can never hop in bed with ZANU PF at the expense of our colleagues whom we identify with,” said one source.

Fears of factionalism in ZANU PF between the Mnangagwa faction and Mujuru faction could open the door for a deal between Mutambara’s MDC and ZANU-PF, in which ZANU PF might seek to secure the post of deputy speaker - and court the MDC faction as a coalition partner by backing Nyathi.

In a related development Mugabe’s spokesman has hinted that they will ‘kill’ for the speaker position a move analysts are speculating could mean preventing some MDC MPs from casting their votes.

‘(The MDC-M )will have to decide on a position regarding the Speakership, which Zanu-PF will kill to get’. said Charamba.

You guys have truly shown that our country is one and that it is time that our people are liberated from the yoke of ZANU pf oppression and suppression.
Dump the ZANU pf sidekicks in the forms of Mutambara and Welshman Ncube. Those guys have never won in the constituencies which they contested. Once again thank you; you are our heroes.
