Listen to interview with MDC MP & Interior Secretary Sam Sipepa Nkomo

The MDC had dismissed media reports that the Zimbabwean government has finally agreed to issue MDC President, Morgan Tsvangirai with a passport, Metro can reveal.

Speaking on VOA`s Studio 7 last night MDC MP and Interior Secretary Sam Sipepa Nkomo said the MDC has not received Tsvangirai`s passport.

“`Mr.Tsvangirai still has no passport,if they have indeed issued issued him with a passport its still with ZANU PF officials,he has not received the passport“,said Nkomo.

“The passport was not delivered at Harvest House (MDC Head Office) it was not at his Strathaven residence, there is no MDC official who has yet received it so he did not get it…If he indeed got it we should not be hearing it from the media or the South African government but from those who are responsible for issuing passport here.“,he added.

Tsvangirai, is in Botswana with only the ETD issued to him last month when he left the country and believes he cannot return because he does not have a valid travel document.

He has been denied a passport since early this year, the government claiming it does not have the materials to issue him with a new one. But his party, the MDC, has pointed out that thousands of other people have been issued passports since Tsvangirai applied.

The British are not qualified to speak about Mugabe’s atrocities. This was their attitude when Mugabe was busy butchering people in Matabeleland. These cooments were made by a senior commander of the British army who was in Zimbabwe in the 1980s to train the Zimbabwe national army. Colonel CHUCK IVEY British Military Advisory & Training Team
“And I must answer that here in this particular unit there are no… there’s no evidence of this at all. I think that what the problems of two years ago have now diminished into almost nothing.”

REPORTER: What, in spite of all the stories out of Matabeleland?

IVEY: Well there are stories in Matabeleland and there are stories in Ireland and you want to believe who writes what story.

They did not want to believe as long as mugabe honoured the part of the lanchester house that protected the white farmers. Now what makes them believe all the stories, now that they do not have many representatives. In the 1980s there were a lot of British personnel who could have investigated these reports. The British are not at all sincere.

People like Njabulo are retrogressive, typical Africans. you never progress with such attitude. You always dwell on the past. It happenned and thats history . You can not duck blow that had already beaten you.Warohwa -warohwa what is next is how clever are you now.Look at the Germans , Japanese they moved forward regardless of the bombardment the they indured during 2nd world war.If the British are not qualified then who is. Show me one who has a clean finger to point on these wrong doings.

Any one who see a wrong doing is qualified to comment even if it is Saddam, Hitler or Amin. Its noble and correct to point on a mistake than to stay aloof. For your own information Njabulo, they are VERY few good people on earth the rest are pretenders.

Morgan’s passport no-show is a bit like the case of the missing “invitation to form government letters” that Mugabe had sent the MDC parties. Mugabe has truly lost it and is seaching for every trick in the book to keep everyone guessing. You’d think it would easy to take out this crackpot.

  9. Njabulo Toivo says:

Sam, let this happen and soon it will be history. The Israelis are still hunting down the Nazis, what is wrong with people seeking for justice. You need to be balanced, Mugabe is not an angel and so are the British. I have never supported ZANU and I have always been a ZAPU supporter, we know what the British and ZANU did in the 1980s. Seeking justice is not being retrogressive. Justice delayed is justice denied.

  10. Chamboko says:

True, there is no way on can say the happenings in Matebelelnad and Midlans Province were fine. i however feel for now le’t’s have our focus on normalising the situation in our country, which, inter alia involves the departure of Mugabe. it does not seem to serve meaningfull purpose to try to wage a struggle within a struggle. Njabulo, the justice we all crave for can only be in place once the right conditions are there.

what some of us from the provinces above seem to forget is during the time the unfortunate things happennned Mugabe and Zanu pf were a popular lot. with the benefit of hindsight, it is also easy to see that any propaganda they would have unleashed on the populace would certainly have been accpted as truth, unfortunately by the majority. that does not make them wrong, they firmly believed, wrongly or otherwise in their leadership and whatever comes from that leadership. people were just coming from war and anyone deemed to be trying to continue or start another would certainly not be looked at favourably.

Having said that, i would think instead of always trying to say how we were correct and how athers were wrong then, we should look at the fact that at least everyone now sees the man’s true colours. My cup is always half full. no meaningfull purp[ose would be served by trying to give an indication on who should comment on what. the only advantage Njabulo has is probably that we do not know his him publicly. otherwise we could come up with moral grounds as to why he should not comment on the matter. the same could probably be said about anyone (myself included), but i refuse to accept that a person’s rights and wrongs of the past should determine whether they are qualified to say if something is wrong or correct. how then do we learn from our mistakes?

Who will then comment anyway? The Chinese? I would also concur with Sam that our past should act as a lesson on what not to do instead of it being a trap that we always refer to instead of being progressive. Let’s do away with the victim mentality and anticipate better things in life. I just have a feeling us people from Matebeland should also sieze the opportunity, once the situation stabilises in our country, to work hard and apply ourselves in life intead of always referring to the past. I am tempted to say even though the current situation is affecting everone in the country we minght be left behind in the new Zimbabwe because of inertia.

Chamboko you are saying that because you are a normal cotizen. I could not get a birth certificate in Zimbabwe because I was concieved as a result of rape by gukurahundi. I was shunned by my community until I was adopted by a Namibian father. Until now I am not Zimbabwean, because of Mugabe and his British. Until I get my birth certificate I will comment on the painful period of Gukurahundi. I have to live with it, so do thosands of other people in Tsholotsho, Nkayi, Lupane, Mbembesi, Kezi etc. We the survivors demand explanation from both sides.

  13. n'gadios says:

njabulo help me–Did the British kill any Ndebeles during Gukurahundi?? Are they supposed to be the policemen of their former colonies turned sovereign states? Do not mix issues, for you may have valid personal reasons, but destroy the validity of your arguments when you make inaccurate and sweeping statements.

  16. Simba Muti says:

Mugabe and his cronies are well aware that they were not voted for because they the ones who forced Zimbabweans to unwillingingly vote for ZANU(PF). People were ordered to write ballot paper’s serial number and take it to a po****o where some ZANU(PF) thugs were stationed. just a few metres away from the polling station where names, ID NOs and addresses were recorded with an option of making follow ups in the event that results would be otherwise. How can the Mugabe regime now blame the west for our suffering when in actual fact their corruption and greedness has destryed zimbabwean economy to the extent of reducing all Zimbabweans to paupers. The world over should be aware that all Zimbabweans are so scared to tell Mugabe of his cruelty because he is a killer. several have been killed and no room for any arrests or even to report to the police.

I feel that Mugabe should swallow his pride and resign to allow Zimbabwe to be revived and go back to old days where we used to cherish the gains of our country. We did not regain our indenpendence so that one person can rule this country but it was to remove a bad system.
