Mugabe must be re-sworn-Motlanthe

South African President Kgalema Motlanthe has said President Robert Mugabe must re-sworn at the same day when Prime Minister Designate Morgan Tsvangirai is sworn – in his boldest statement to date that indicates that South Africa does not recognize Mugabe as President of Zimbabwe.

He told a press briefing after holding talks with his Botswana counterpart Ian Khama, “We agreed that with regards to Zimbabwe the next step really is to ensure that we unblock the impasse for them to take amendment 19 through the senate and the assembly, so that Mr Tsvangirai could be sworn in as prime minister andMutambara as the vice prime minister and Mugabe as the president, so that once the three of them have been sworn in they can then form an inclusive government.”

President Ian Khama meets the Elders group
Botswana President Ian Khama met with members of the Elders group in Johannesburg after they were refused entry into Zimbabwe on Saturday.

Former US President Jimmy Carter and ex-UN secretary general Kofi Annan were to embark on a humanitarian mission to the strife-torn country, but were denied visas by Mugabe’s government.

Carter, Annan and Grace Machel, wife of former South African predisent Nelson Mandela experienced first-hand accounts of the harrowing conditions in Zimbabwe from refugees at the Central Methodist Church in downtown Johannesburg. They are on a mission to assess the needs of ordinary Zimbabweans and free up the flow of aid to the cholera-ravaged country.

The Elders Group have already held talks with the leader of the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC), Morgan Tsvangirai, who is also in Johannesburg . The MDC is at loggerheads with the ZANU-PF party, led by Mugabe, over the allocation of Cabinet Ministers and other positions in a proposed unity government.

The Elders Group will hold talks with President Motlanthe in Johannesburg on Monday about the situation in Zimbabwe.

Meanwhile, the Zimbabwean Government has been reported as saying that they have not refused Annan and his group entry but that the Elders Group had not proper arrangements for their visit.

Mudhara uyu iduzvi we all know it. He will go down as one of Africa’s greatest failures. Worse than Mobutu, Idi Amin and Kamuzu. Kamuzu akanetsa asi vanhu vake havana kufa nenzara, cholera or the sort. Shame on you Bob.

  5. mukoma pedzi says:

I thought the GPA was signed on condition that the Presidency of Zimbabewe was not part of the negotiations.

How many negotitations are we going to have before the MDC finally walk out of this so-called deal?
I think we must just agree that we move on and meet in 2013 at the elections.

  6. Faraway says:

That’s a better move by Motlanthe. Now the sh..t wil really hit the fan. Imagine Bob sitting in his office, already seething about the Elders ban shenanigans, and all the ridicule he’s copping for that. Now his SADC mate is getting tougher with him, and that will make things unbearable. I see an outburst coming. Bob is going to explode.

Morgan is not going to agree with this idea anyway, since this suggests that they fight it out for their portfolios after the swearing in. How naive of Motlanthe to think that Mugabe will really share the government equally. He’s just not the sharing kind.

  7. Babson says:

Where are the Scarfaces of this world who sleep, walk, talk zanu PF. Please explain what arrangments need to be done for the elders to see the extent of the humanitarian crisis in Zim and go to canvas for AID for the starving and dying nation. Zanu is angry that this shows that they do not care for its own people that is a fact and truth and truth hurts that is why zanu is angry. These are the last days of zanu we wish to bid them farewell during these difficult times the country is facing. Swallow your pride and give us our country back.
Thanks Montlante for your stand on mugabe, he will be re-sworn fine but we citizens of the country do not recognise him at all but for progress sake we will accomodate this move. This barring of Elders for entering the country has been a good advert of zanu the whole world now knows what kind of leaders you are mabenzi evhanu.

  8. Frusrated says:

Go khama, go khama, go!!!!! I think that attack on Botswana over allegations of training MDC militia really struck a nerve. Bob is advised by a bunch of idiots and that’s gonna be his undoing. well i couldnt care less. and guys i’m not trying to be pessimistic here but when there’s a lot of powerful goons who stand to lose all they have looted when the law returns, they’re gonna put up a fight. dont ever think u can talk it out in such a situation. you know what, i think our only solution here is an invasion, really. all this talk could go on. but by now I’m sure our patience must have run out as a people and we’d have done something- i’m dissapointed

  9. mbuya more says:

Hezvoko Bwo! Morgan is more he is now acting as ahead of state to ensure that the people get food aid yet Mugabe remain caged in Harare with very few honourable friends. He should be part of the elders not kuramba achinetsana nema bornfree kusanyara kamudhara.

We dont run a country based on opinions of neighbouring presidents who are on a six month contract courtesy of a few friends. Tibvireipo. mafungiro akewo Moshande wenyu iyeye.

  11. Babson says:

Abel what ever you say the neighbouring President is constitutional in office and not your mad bobm, tibvire apa. What have you to gain with your mad bob. Nxxxxxx.

  12. Abel says:

And Bob is not? Saka arikutonga ndiani nhasi. 5 years dzirikupera muchingodaro with your slow leader who thinks time is on his side.nxa!!!

  13. Divha says:

Abel, wazoratidxa hudofo hwako manje. You think Mugabe is constitutionally president? no! he is a thug who realised he couldn’t go into talks without having won something. Tsvangirayi beat him in the first election and as far as things go Tsvangirayi was the winner of that election even if he didn’t get the majority. To gain some leverage at the talks Mugabe went ahead with the 2nd election weven after everyone knew there would be talks regardless of the outcome. Read back on spe****s before the run-off. Mugabe said he would sit and talk to the MDC. The swearign in was to avoid going to Egpyt for the AU meeting as a defunct stand-in, to get into talks on the basis of some leverage where MDC said they have a majortiy in parly and he says he won the run-off.
It means nothing without Tsvangirayi. There is this notion that the talks are all abotu Mugabe making room in his government for the MDC but there is no government right now and without the MDC there will be no ZANU PF govt. So stop assuming you are doing the MDc a favour by getting them in. If that were the case you guys in ZANU never share anything and you could have gone it alone but it means nothing if you go it alone because you ar ebroke, you can’t go on holiday to enjoy the monies you stole and your kids are back home with you enjoying the hunger, cholera and blackouts.
Someone once said ZANU PF inongofunga kuba kana kupihwa mahara. If you are one of them they expect you to give them for free, if you not one of them they are plannign ways of stealing it from you. So we have donations to the party from parastatals run by ZANU appointees who then donate moeny to the party (chemahara ) and we have companies running into problems created by ZANU so they can then take the company over on some trumped up charges like what happened to ENG and Mutumwa Mawere’s Africa Resources (chekuba)

    Elders should not be allowed
These people visit our beautiful land so that they can write lies about our dear president. Gukurahundi never occurred, it is a myth created to discredit our leader. Murambatsvina also never occurred. Why should these elders visit coincide with the collapse our currency? They will never be allowed into our country otherwise they will bring diseases. Our people are eating well that is why the sewrage system is so overworked. HEALTH FOR ALL BY THE YEAR 2000

  16. Babson says:

Abel the constitution is respected in Africa ask the former President of South Africa, he wouldn’t have been recalled if the constitution is not respected in Africa. Zimbabwean leaders (zanu) have a culture of not respecting the constitution and so don’t label other African countries you foolish Abel.
As for Cde Irony Sarcasm you are a stupid idiot, I lost a lot of relatives during Gukurahundi you murderers don’t even start this topic. Murambatsvina affected Harare mostly and your people felt a bit the wrath of your destructive leader at that time, we are not square yet. Zimbabwe is dead because of lack of good leadership, idiots like you Abels and Irony will continue to support destructive leaders like mugabe.

  17. simbimbino says:

Honestly these leaders are a bunch of imbecilic buffoons. Gushungo does not need to be sworn in AGAIN, surely Jesus wept!! Motlanthe is an even b**** moron than Mbeki, as a nation we are not going to get any constructive help from SADC, let alone AU, matare aya iungano dzezvitutah zvega zvega. Take to the UN one might say, if the truth be said for the resolution that we need, and rightfully deserve, this body is just as impotent and incompetent. Things MUST get a whole lot uglier, whether we like or not, and then people will rise. Until the soldiers & police, and thier families are starving and emaciated, and frothing like rabid dogs, and until WE as a people brace up, have some spine and balls, then we better be prepared for more of this. Do not even think the is going to some kind of intervention in Zim, certainly not before Darfur or DRC, the principal parties in question are committed elsewhere: if it aint Iraq then it is Afghanistan; if not both. People, Gushungo knows all this, you have not seen the worst, more is yet to come, the old croc does not give a monkeys about you all, we alone hold the key to liberation from this madness. I very much doubt poor Tsvangi, despite a few victories here and there, this chap has grossly failed to deliver in a nation heavily pregnant with the key ingredients to a people driven revolution. As a nation, a continent and we have been truly let down by a lack of consistent, visionary, charismatic and noble leaders. Just look at current crop, from Tsvangi, Gushungo, AGO, Mbeki, Montlanthe & Co.

Does that not tell you something you idiot.Your monkey friend will kill more black people in what is supposed to be a peacefull Zimbabwe than were ever killed in the war.Your monkey friend has created the poorest black people in the world.28 years ago you voted for a bunch of corrupt monkeys to destroy a wonderfull country and they have done a fantastic job in doing just that.Scarface. You all have come up with sickening defencies of Bhobho-inja despite all recorded and undisputeable evidence of killings of innocent people whose only sin was to elect a candidate of their choice. Bob the baboon called an election thinking it was going to be easy rigging the elections as has always been the case, but look what happened you three fools!! For 5 solid weeks Bob had manyoka(diarrhea) and bird flu!!

Bob is as good as a caged Baboon!! He behaves like one anyway. This is the same baboon the late Simon Mzee was telling Zanu-PF mindless supporters to vote for in an election. Zimbabweans are more smarter than Mzee and followers as they dumped the baboon.

MDC must never ever accept any thing less than equitable distribution of power!! That is a position MDC must never entertain because winners should not be pushed around!! We , Zimbabweans , voted overwhelmingly for President Morgan Tsvangirai not this criminal, rapist, thug, murderer calling himself President. He is President of Zanu-PF(PF not for long because Zapu have wooke up to the smell of political coffee)!! This only means more manyoka for poor Mukuru!!

Final defeat is staring the Zanu-Mafia in their faces and ooh boy!!!! vave kumanya nemanyoka!!! They are afraid of Zimbabweans – innocent, peace loving people who do not deserve this horrid sub humane treatment from those who claim to be our liberators!! Liberators from what you Zanu-PF idiots???!!

  24. Sad says:

Surely the example bob has set has shown that he and his cronies have had their day and the sun has set! Enough – why should the mdc continue to be pushed into sharing power with this pyschotic murderer and his fickle cronies who would sell their own mothers for a dollar. MDC has tried to work with zanu and this is clearly not possibly as zanu are too focussed on their personal wealth and not the welfare of zimbabweans. It is time for new monitored elections and for these zanu thieves to give up what they have stolen from zimbabweans and face trial for their crimes. It is also time for africa to stop holding up these so called liberation heroes who have only liberated the countries wealth. It is time for the new generation to come in – people who do not have hangups about an individuals culture, religion, sex or colour.

  26. Sad says:

reality news – looks like you need a reality check! You must be one of the idiots responsible for causing the destruction of Zimbabwe as those are the only people who there are sanctions against.

Speak for yourself when you say you don’t want handouts – obviously you prefer the rape and pillaging method but those that you have stolen from do need help and zanu-pf is clearly not putting the people of zimbabwe first or they would not have rigged the last 3 elections. The reason we need handouts in the first place is because bob and his cronies have destroyed every part of our once beautiful and prosperous country! While most zimbabweans are starving to death and dying from disease all you zanu pigs care about is your money you thieving pieces of ****.

When are you people going to realise we don’t want you – **** off already you murdering pigs.

Babson go back to school and do O-level English literature if you do not understand what Irony is. If you remember the open letter I wrote to Enos Nkala in 1988 during the Willowgate scandal you will understand my sarcasm. My letter was published by the Chronicle. Enos Nkala was threatening everyone for dared to criticise him. So I send a blank letter with the heading, Open letter to Enos Nkala. The sarcasm I wrote above, was meant to mock ZANU supporters. I am a 63 year old male with no children because Gukurahundi crushed my “you know what”. In 1983 while in Mbembesi, we abducted and taken to Ntabazinduna by the Gukurahundi and then taken to Stops Camps before finding ourselves at the now infamous Bhalangwe Toryure centre. Grow up and appreciate humour.

  28. Guys do you know who is really behind all this and why these issues are still taking long its our hero Thabo the asshole Mbeki he is playing the cards so they can say he is a great man he brought these two people who do not like each other together but the real fact is that if we take out Thabo Mbeki from this and put Ian Khama it will be game over for these South African stooges and they will be worrying what is next so they will try and delay all this until dear Bob the white man hater is dead or to old to go to the hauge so delay is the game if you read what our hero sister Thokzani Kupe said they wont join with zanu pf if there are allot of missing things which needs to be done and they will never be forced to join by South Africa coz they have Ian Khama who is still out hope for free and fair elections under the UN or any other player who can sit and watch real elections and the truth come out zanu ya****

  31. reality news says:

    MDC yawora

I AM one of those few people who do not believe in conspiracy theories and will not advance any.

But let us debate the fact that there seems to be a pattern in the words expressed by the President George W. Bush, UK Secretary for Foreign Affairs, David Miliband, MDC leader, Morgan Tsvangirai, the “Elders”, Kenyan President Raila Odinga and the Botswana President, Ian Khama.

Add Rhodesian born Lord Malloch-Brown and the “new kid on the block” who gave MDC leader, Morgan Tsvangirai “temporary leave to remain” in France and Germany last week, French President Nicholas Sarkozy, then you have a complete team that is “concerned about Zimbabwe”.

The rest of the world, save for occasional nemeses, Australia, Canada and New Zealand, you have a complete “football team” against the Government of Zimbabwe, or more specifically against President Robert Mugabe (as a person).

All these men behave like members of some particular family, and if anyone heard them speak on Zimbabwe, they use almost similar words, even before they have met to discuss the country.

Infact, I should hasten to say that they are all “relatives of the British” or are British descendants (save for France and Germany of course who speak only at the opportune time.)

They almost have a synchronised way of responding to Zimbabwe and the responses they give to media answers are almost similar.

The spe****s they give on the country are almost memorised, for instance the expression “the people spoke on March 29” as if June 27 does not exist at all. They are blind to June 27, yet refer to Robert Mugabe as President and invite him to the UN General Assembly and maintain diplomatic relations with his Government. Surely the first true gesture would be to withdraw their ambassadors. Or am I wrong? That would send a very clear signal. Wouldn’t it? President Bush still has his ambassador, James McGee still tucked away nicely in Samora Machel Avenue.

After the harmonised June 27 election these people, save for the “Elders”, used the word “sham election” which was first mentioned by the MDC President, then the other players “caught the bug” and their accompanying media and activists followed suit. Now that phrase has been dropped.

Is it a coincidence that unelected President Khama met with President Motlanthe at a time when the “Elders” and Morgan Tsvangirai were in South Africa? Is it also a coincidence that Raila Odinga is ratcheting up pressure from crisis-ridden Kenya at about the same time as Tsvangirai is meeting with Western leaders? Where was Odinga the last few months?

Odinga seems to suggest the impossible all the time and sounds almost like he is reading from an unfamiliar script. How can he honestly suggest peace keeping troops in Zimbabwe? To do what? To monitor the cholera outbreak? And besides, where are the troops going to come from? There is a shortage of AU/UN troops in Somalia and the DR Congo. The man does not seem to know what else is happening in other parts of Africa.

Is it also a coincidence that outgoing US President, George W. Bush has called the government of Zimbabwe “illegitimate” at about the same time?

The world community, or should I say the ‘UK-US-Community’ seems to have been shocked by the decision of SADC. The reaction by this “Community” was almost nauseating starting with Tsvangirai – on a charity trip – saying Zimbabwe will not last for more than two months without a Government, but at the same time refusing to join an all-inclusive Cabinet.

Zimbabweans have died, have been maimed, have endured more pain than Tsvangirai can ever imagine in the last 10 years. What is two months to them, if not the time he spent in Botswana when people were dying from post-electoral violence? While he was being groomed for Presidency and looking at which campaign coach to buy with secret funders’ money, Zimbabwe was burning.

Allies of the US-UK-Community have pledged more funds for “humanitarian assistance” a week after saying they were considering further sanctions. France made a pledge and so did Germany to assist Zimbabweans, but at the same time lobbied for more sanctions through the EU.

Besides, if the “Elders” were in Zimbabwe were there to assess the extent of the problem, how come the pledges were made without the report of the “Elders”?

President Bush has also indicated that Washington will extend sanctions, or rather “targeted sanctions” if a government is not put in place. He also, in the same breath, says humanitarian assistance to Zimbabwe will be increased. What a joke. At least his policies are consistently flawed: he dropped bombs and burgers in Iraq; he destroyed and reconstructed.

I am yet to understand the logic behind all these statements issued by this “family” of leaders. The US-UK-Community has an agenda which has nothing to do with the plight of Zimbabweans and they should now come in the open, if they are not already in the open.

The “Elders,” it is shocking, defied the work of the SADC Community, the UN-WFP reports, the reports by the Government of Zimbabwe and many other NGOs and charity groups in the country. They wanted to come in for 48 hours and assess work that has taken specialised agencies months to assess.

Kofi Annan as former Secretary General of the UN should know how impossible the task of finding out the extent of a humanitarian problem in 48 hours was.

One professor Stan Mukasa said on SW Radio on his “Letter From America” show that there is nothing the “Elders” would not know about Zimbabwe given the improvements in telecommunications in this day and age. I wondered: “So what’s the fuss about visiting Zimbabwe?” He is also the same person who compared a 400 year old US political system with a 28 year old Zimbabwean political system – one which is still being subjected to interference by the former. Interesting critics, activists, analysts!

Why does morgan not take his diplomatic efforts to China-cuba-iran-north korea-Russia-Libya-burma etc? Does he think he can run the country without the chinese or Indians and russians or malaysians support? China is the biggest player in world economics and the Americans own debt has been bought by the chinese to the tune of 2 trillion us dollars. hezvoi ka izvo. The americans are living on borrowed time if that continues.Morgan tsvangirai will never be sucessful even if he were to be president unless he builds bridges with the chines and others like that. The west do not own much oil-like russia or iran -are not rich in resources like india. The chinese have many friends in Africa and have invested through out the continent heavily. The Americans see morgan and botswana as the ones who can reverse this trend .If morgan can be in power in zim , than they have control of southern Africa because khama and zambia are already under there wing. They have time to maneuvere in south africa because zuma is clueless and the boers are still running the economy.

Putting it straight -george bush is putting on pressure because he wants a result to take to his grave when he is finally kicked out of office by obama in january.Good riddance too because we have had enough of that puppet fool. All these leaders have come and gone and our irreplaceable BOB is still standing because he is powered by duracell or african juju.Where is Tony blair today? The elders can not go hang but please just retire gacefully . He did not get the required 51% of the vote as required by the constitution. He pulled out of the run off through fear of losing.Has he benefitted from pulling out of that -no because mugabe is still the president and he signed the MOU to prove it and rubber stamp it.MUgabe will always be morgan’s boss.

The police are now being assisted by the army to run the country- you know what that means .Even if he gets Homesaffairs the army may be in charge of running things by then.Muchati baba mdc. You are now cornered and your options are limited.Pressure is on from sadc for a deal and the elders have been foiled by mr duracell bob on their propaganda mission. Forget the un now that these old bags have nothing to do but enjoy their holiday in south africa.Let zuma show them around or morgan with his travel pass.In zimbabwe we are in charge make no mistake about that. The decisions bob makes morgan would not be able to make as leader- he is too weak and will sell out our country to the highest bidder.Since when have Americans been on top of the british in zimbabwe ? Zimbabwe was a british colony not american.Get these blood hounds out of our country. All they like to see is blood and starvation . Please get the **** out. Bush if you hear me –get lost and be gone.I wish i could fast forward to january 20.gogogoogogogogogogogogogogo.gone.

As for mdc – morgan has failed and even if he were to be president, he will fail. Take on Biti because he seems to have some courage. He can work with that **** prouncing around like a confused prostitute that has not recieved payment from a client and left with no transport to go home…khupe .Morgan has failed and i am amazed he is still smiling after all those promises never to sign a bad deal.IS HE NOT ASHAMED? He signed a bad deal and why is he not resigning? You may think he is your only hope but sometimes a new face might bring something different and might even gain support from neutrals…because morgan is tarnished now.Morgan can not even strike deals with the chinese because i dont see them getting on.He is history.Very few survive a war with zanu pf.

Its like playing for manchester united-after that the only way is down unless you are beckham or van nestroy. If you have been in a fight with zanu pf , your political carrier is all but over.Look at mavambo-jonathan moyo-tekere-etc. NOW MORGAN .Inonzi zanu pf…we do not **** about. So you elders be warned because your carriers are now gone after this.Spend the remainder of your lives in peace or heart attacks may just take you away.

Scarface. You want what you call blood hounds out of the country but you want their money. Why cant Zimbabwe dollars be used in Zimbabwe. Why have you reverted to western currency. No matter how hard you try you will always need something from the west.Without the west ,Zimbabwe is history. There is not a country in the world that wants the useless Zimbabwe currency. You need western money, western medicine, western clothing, western education, western inventions, western food, western aid.
Why are you not using Chinese currency,Chinese medicine,Chinese aid. I thought they were your friends. Why are they not helping you.It is because their only intention is to suck Zimbabwe dry of all its minerals and once they have done that they will have no more to do with Zimbabwe. You zanu monkeys are tooooooooooo thick to understand this.Soon Zimbabwe will be controlled by a foreign country as your baboon dog of a president will soon wipe out the entire population of Zimbabwe.

Even Smith did not let us die of cholera. What happened to Zanu slogan of the 1980s “HEALTH FOR ALL BY THE YEAR 2000” Mugabe has completely destroyed what the Rhodesians had toiled so hard to build. When Mpilo and Harare Hospitals were completed in the 1960s, those hospitals were functional and served the people well. Rhodesia was Super

Reality news, I don’t know if it’s drugs you’re on or drugs you should be on but you are not alone. You have been arrived. Wasvikirwa. Unemweya.
    Simple issues here.
We know Zimbabwe is a young democrracy but do you believe what Mugabe and the generals have done is democracy? Issuing coup statements on the eve of elections saying they won’t recognise anyone but Mugabe? Whatabout the people voting? Don’t they have a say? Why have electiosn then? Why the pretence of democracy if they are in essence saying only Mugabe can govern? Why put the people through the trauma of an election prone with violence and intimidation?
You say the west is out to get Mugabe and the elders should use telecommunications infrastructure to find out about the country and situation on the ground. I don’t think you are normal. Do you have relatives in Zimbabwe struggling at all? Are you some CIO agent sent here to spread lies about the level of support Mugabe has because everyone knows the country is down on it’s knees not because of sanctions bu because ZANU stole everything. Everyone knows Mugabe did not win the elections because the people voted Tsvangirayi.
Nothing will change soon, whether you keep aup the cheerleading for Mugabe or not, he is on his way out and soon the generals and Chihuri will run away from the country with their ill-gains and dissapear into the night. The foot soldiers like you will be subject to the wrath of the people. Mark my words. There is no other outcome from this but that Mugabe will notbe president for long. You ZANOIDS have no constructive plan for the country. All you think about is how to stop the MDC governing, how to prolong your stay in power and in turn how to steal whatever remains of value in the country. Today you are killing each other in Chiadzwa, each politician sending police or soldiers loyal to him and they start shooting each other in the name of what you call sovereignty but it is just blind adulation and been used by greedy politicians who are afraid to face the courts for the abuse they did in all those yers on power.
Mugabe had a glorious chance to be one of the elders but it is amazing that those who came to power after him and left before him are today telling what he as an elder statesman should have surely grasped in all his years as president – power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely. Look at Mogae, Chisano, Mandela and Nyerere. leaders leave before they are asked to go or else they are forced out. The harder he clings to power the greater force we will use to wrench his evil from the land. Like i said, the clock is ticking. There is nowhere out but prison. Mark my words. It is all ending in prison there is nothing you guys can do to change the tide.

Scarface. If any member of your family dies from cholera then they would have been killed by the very government that you sponser.Your government is on a killing spree of its own people.
