Emmerson Mnagagwa, the Joint Operations Command Chairman has said they will go ahead and sign a power sharing deal with leader of an MDC faction Arther Mutambara and will be appointed Prime Minister.

“Tsvangirai is not special,we will go ahead and rule with Mutambara”, he was overhead saying as the ZANU PF delegation left Rainbow Towers on Tuesday night.

The Tsvangirai led MDC has flatly declined ZANU PF ’s proposal that as Prime Minister Tsvangirai would control only the finance, local government and home affairs portfolios in the cabinet, while all executive power will vested on the president, including appointing the cabinet, powers to dismiss the Prime Minister, dismissing a cabinet member and chairing the cabinet.

If ZANU PF goes ahead and signs the deal it will likely split the faction, already as rumours spread yesterday evening an MDC MPs in the faction,Edward Tshotsho Mkhosi,MDC-Mangwe told Metro that if any such deal is made he will quit the faction.

“No I will not watch history being repeated,we have seen ZANU PF’s strategy of divide and rule in the past and this time it will not work, not this time.”,he said.

Another MP told the Telegraph,”If this has happened I don’t agree,” said Abednico Bhebe,MDC-Nkayi South. “This will be disastrous. None of us will go with him. He would be committing political suicide.”

Sen.David Coltart,MDC-Khumalo, said: “If that happened I don’t agree and I doubt the majority of our executive would support that decision.”

Mutambara lost a parliament bid in Zengeza West to trade unionist Collen Gwiyo of the faction led by Morgan Tsvangirai.

The loss followed embarrassing loses by the faction Vice President Gibson Sibanda,Secretary General Welshman Ncube,Treasurer Fletcher Ndulini Ncube, its Defense secretary Job Sikhala.

Already during the talks the Mutambara MDC faction pushed for an amendment of No. 19 so as increase appointed senators from five to 21.

  1. Mutambara will die a lonely death.

  2. This would be the greatest escape in history for Mugabe and Zanu. For sure Zanu would be surprised if this works. It will inevitably give Mugabe the legitimacy to govern as he will have gained a mandate from a group which according to the talks holds the balance of power. It seems quite legitimate, though some will be disgusted by this - there is no cluase in the memorandum which states that all parties have to agree unequivocally. It might just place Tsvangirai in a brick wall !
The international response to this is what will be most interesting, for sure the west will not accept this, but then again Mugabe could get the backing of his Russian and Chinese friends who will recognise him as president- then its back to business as usual.Africa will be divided again by this, but Mugabe will prevail when it comes to Africans because he will argue that he has a majority in parliament to govern (due the the agreement with Mutambara) and the MdC-T will be back to a situation where they might actually be neutralized as an opposition.
The MdC -T seems to take for granted that it does not have a majority in parliament despite all the posturing.

THIS COULD BE A VERY SERIOUS HEADACHE FOR TSVANGIRAI.

If it works for ZANU he will be blamed by his executive ,most of which is part of the negotiations , and had approved to a draft ,which it appears TSVANGIRAI UNILATERALLY REPEALED.Thus sending the negotiations back to square one, this attempt to derail the talks might just back fire. The demise of Tsvangirai might just bee near- time will tell.

  3. Mutambara mutengesi mukuru.U have been a zanu and u will remain a zanu.Mutambara is an opportunist and he is trying to negotiate a post for himself. We dont need these people in Zimbabwe, u can sign that `agreement` but munoiitei zimbabwe yacho Mugabe achitonga. That was done b4 with Nkomo but nothing changed as long as Mugabe holds the power.I have noticed that most professors in Zim pfungwa dzavo dzakadhakwa.
Mucha**** chete vanhu veZanu tichaitora chete.Mugabe haulume

  4. This is just more of zanu’s lies.Mbeki has said that no agreement has been met and nothing has been signed.Mnagagwa is just another piece of lying ****.We know how you zanu twats opperate and you are not going to win this time.If you ****heads stay in power, then you will be the leaders of the most unsuccessful country in the world. You zanu wankers couldn’t run a pissup in a brewery.

  5. As long as Mugabe holds POWER Zimbabwe will continue to slide down the drain. Noone will recognise him and unemployment will crawl 100%. Everything and i mean everything will become a basket case; Health, Education, Economy etc. His cronies like that murderer Mnangagwa will continue to rape the Reserve Bank and they will continue to be richer while the rest of the population continue to suffer.Mutambara is a nothing in Zim politics but just an opportunist.

  6. If this is true, then the conduct of professors in Zimbabwe’s politics leaves fewer of our children aspiring to this pinnacle of academic achievement, to say the least.

It is good that Mutambara has acted true to colour: those who had hitherto given him the benefit of the doubt now know for sure.

  7. It has been obvious from the beginning that these talks were not going to produce any result. When Morgan said MDC had lost faith in impartiality of the facilitator it was game over. The fact that he agreed to continue with the talks were just to ensure that the failure will not be blamed on him for he could have just pulled out then. It is now very clear to the whole world that the real problem in Zimbabwe is Mbeki who does not want to see Morgan leading the country. For the past 8 years he has been busy protecting Mugabe. He has brought in Mutambara through Ncube so that it could be seen as if is a genuine political entry of Arthur. It looks like Mbeki has a deal with Munangagwa and Ncube. I really do not think Morgan will loose anything. He should just pull out of talks and let Arthur, Robert and Emmerson with the assistance of Thabo preside over Zimbabwe and see what happens. People are behind Morgan, no doubt about that! Time changes although it may take time to change - Morgan, leave Mbeki alone.

To the true neighbours of Zimbabwe in SADC, please assist us. I mean, Botswana and Zambia. Mozambique is multi-coloured, we do not know where they stand.

Surely, how can SADC leaders endorse someone who was condemned by the people they sent to go and observe on their behalf?

  8. Tsvangirai is right to walk away from this murderous affair. No assistance will come for this marriage which will see the bride(mtambara) going to this wedding without the bridesmaids(mps) who can see thru Mugabes chicanery. The country will never move forward without MDC T mark my words. They are not serious and untill they learn to respect peoples wishes nothing will move.

  9. Mutambara has been a sellout sine the beginning saka hapana chitsva we were expecting this from you,you are going to die poor and this is the end of your backdoor political era.Bob haambofi akaita mface wako come what may…..

  10. Hi

  12. Munangagwa i**** - the game is now over - All ZANU PF loyalists need to understand this and unfortunately, ACCEPT IT. The honeymoon is over - it’s time for those with the intellect and will power to do it, to sort out the mess caused by these dictators. The country is in ruins and we cannot accept any more of the past three decades. That’s enough - three decades of dismally failed policy on anything whatsoever, I can’t think of anything chakabudirira nedzakare mbavha idzodzi over the years.

  13. mudhara gabaz haana tsitsi nevanhu vezimbabwe. Very surprised that his you
Type of leadership is selfish. We definitely need god tointervene. People are suffering no schoolsno hospitals no medication but people like mugabe there is no urgency for them cox they are sitting pretty with his cronies who do no t see anything wrong with his leadership.a leader shoud have compassion for his people but these are more than Egyptian pharoahs. To tsvangirai I say may godbless you for the standing in the gap for the people of Zimbabwe . You a hero in waitingfor these times. The road has not been easy for you . You have bee. Bruised for the sake of others. I salute you . You are more than a voice of the people.
