HARARE – The MDC-T legislator for Makoni Central, John Nyamande has died in a mysterious accident that has left the entire MDC leadership shocked and devastated. He was 57.

Nyamande, a former MDC-UK interim chairman died in the early hours of today when his official twin cab he was driving hit an unidentified truck stationary in the middle of the highway along Rusape-Harare road in Ruwa, a family member has told our reporter in the United Kingdom.
He died on the spot and was driving alone. The accident happened near Thorncroft school in Ruwa, it was reported.
Mrs Irene Sanyauke a close relative who is now comforting Mr Nyamande’s widow in Britain, said the family was devastated by the news of Nyamande’s mysterious death.
“As for now we only know that he hit a car which was stationary on the middle of the highway. He was coming from Rusape and the accident happened in Ruwa early today,” said Mrs Sanyauke.
Current MDC-UK chairman Jonathan Chawora, said: “Its very sad, honourable Nyamande died in the early hours of this morning in Ruwa. We are yet to get details, so far thats the only information we have”.
Nyamade will always be remembered for a bold decision he took in returning home at the height of political violence during the June election. When back home, he made a heroic decision to campaign for a parliamentary seat under the MDC-T ticket in which he stood against Mugabe’s most trusted ally Patrick Chinamasa.
This was at a time when Zimbabwe was regarded as one of the most unstable and dangerous countries in the world.
During the violent campaign he beat-up Mugabe’s foul mouthed Chinamasa who also happens to be his cousin.
At one stage, during the height of ZANU-PF perpetrated violence, Nyamande escaped an assassination attempt.
Nyamande who has been based in the United Kingdom knew the risks of going back home and challenge Robert Mugabe.
After his stunning election as MP, Mr Nyamande returned to the UK where his family live and delivered talks about his experiences during election.
He spoke about the horrors of his election, the election of the Speaker of Parliament, the Power Sharing talks and the MDC vision.
It is sad day for Zimbabwean politics for having lost such a formidable politician of his calibre.

Back are the days of a black dog in the middle of the road. Now its a car parked in the middle of the road. It is usually an old Peugeot 504 which they park crossing the road. I missed one one night and when they saw that I had a gun, boy, the “old” Peugeot was a Merc. It started, swaved and went into the road opposit direction and the speed was alarming for such an old car. I dont know whom they were after in Wedza.
Its time you come back home , you people you had better listen to me its for your own good that’s the words of our brother in arms Morgan T , e need free and fair elections like what we had in 1979 and after that e will come home with all the eduction we have got from here, free and fair elections no power sharing leaders but just one head of state.
Once again the scourge of Zimbabwe’s roads has claimed the life of another gallant son of Zimbabwe, Comrade John Nyamande. He was a true revolutionary and a rock who helped in setting up MDC structures here in the UK. He was fearless and spoke often of the dangers of the situation in Zimbabwe. He is martyr to the struggle for freedom, social justice, democracy, equality and the restoration of the rule of law in our motherland.
Fambai zvakanaka gamba redu. Tichasimudzira pamasiya until fanal victory!! If there is a ZanuPf hand in his passing, they shall never enjoy life as only GOD is the final arbiter. Aluta continua!!! MHDSRIP.
I urge MDC senior members, including parliamentarians to be on the watch out for more “accidents”. Please be very very careful. Mugabe has been defeated by SADC and all he is going to do is to try to wipe out MDC members. He has no other choice, since he has to cede power to comply with the SADC ruling.
MDC-T politicians are not supposed to die of accidents and neither are they supposed to be convicted of criminal offenses because they come from a party of angels.
The gospel according to saint Abel.
Vanhu ve MDC, in fact imbwa nevatengesi ve MDC should learn of a number of things:
1. Death is deprivation and loss, the pemutations and impact will cut beyond party lines and politics. MDC sympathisers expect people to be kind and to speak well of anyone MDC who passes away, while they indundate these western-sponsored sites with hate comments each time someone labelled ZANU PF dies. Readers dont need to be reminded that there were unkind, cruel and hurtful comments on this site when Ngugi wa Mirii, Masawi, Msika, Chinondidyachii to mention a few passed away. ZANU PF contributors have shown maturity in a wonderful way by restraining themsef from spewing utter rubbish in comments relating to MDC thugs who pass away.
2. There is no need to behave as if we are wild animals, kufarira kuti nhingi azofa saka one down as we saw in all comments from MDC people relating to ZANU cadres who had passed away. Kana zvirizvo zvamunosponserwa to flag up these websites by western imperialism then makafa mupfungwa, mbwa dzevanhu.
3. Rufu rufu and must be handled with all the respect that go with last offices, kwete kuta majangaru evanhu, kupembedza nekufarira rufu – what is this world turning to? Kufarira kuti nhinga afa, saka zvave bho? Handisati ndamboona varoyi vakaita semi, you can go hang if what you think is right.
Last, to the family of Nyamande, we all are with you in our prayers. We know you are going through a very hard time. We hope God will guide you through. Those theories and stories will disturb your beloved one from resting in peace – there are always forces out there keen to use death as a political mileage, but for those who think positively, tinoti nguva yanga yasvika, regai va Nyamande vazorore murugare. Pavo vakapedza, isu vapenyu tisu tine misengwa yatasara nayo. RIP Nyamande, from a Progressive Thinker.
Big Brother, i dont under stand what your comment is all about. An MP has died in a car accident. Like all accidents of this nature, no one will claim ownership of the stationary car, they will be no eyewitnesses. All prominent politicians have died like that in Zimbabwe. To me that is suspicious. Where does MDC-T and the west come in, in this story. When Mr Mugabe calls Tsvangirai names its fine, when documented evidence is shown of Zanu Pf thugs assisted by state machinery butchering MDC supporters its fine! When the MDC points out that their enemies are reducing in number through natural causes, it becomes a crime. Zimbabweans can not become one nation only in mourning and divided in everything else.
Big Brother, you had it all in check until you started behaving in the same manner you want us to believe is intolerable case e.g
-imbwa nevatengesi veMDC
-mbwa dzevanhu
-varoyi vakaita semi
If that is the way “Zanu PF contributors have shown maturity in a wonderful way” what then is the difference between you and the “MDC thugs”!
Progressive Thinker? …Progressive? ….Thinker? …Papi pacho? Tibvire!!
