Human rights activist Jestina Mukoko, who was abducted in a raid on her home in Norton,is due to make an appearance in court.
She is charged with ten others of bombing Harare’s Central police station and a “plot” to violently topple Mugabe.
Most of the charges are based on “confessions” made in the custody of the Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO).
The CIO, led by ZANU PF MP Didymus Mutasa, has collected filmed “interviews” with the MDC’s director of security, Chris Dlamini, and Gandhi Mudzingwa, the former Presidential Affairs Director to MDC leader Morgan Tsvangirai, who were both abducted earlier this month.
Mukoko, is the director of the Zimbabwe Peace Project (ZPP), which collected information on human rights abuses by Mugabe’s security establishment.
On December 9, High Court Judge Anne-Marie Gowora ordered the Zimbabwe Republic Police to produce Mukoko, but in court the police said they didn’t have her in their network of cells.
Mukoko had been due to officiate at a USAID-backed awards ceremony before her abduction by a group of seven plainclothes armed men and a woman.
Two of her colleagues, Pascal Gonzo and Brodrick Takawira, were abducted from the project’s offices a week later.
The High Court judge has already ordered police to immediately release all 32 activists.
The ZPP has played a crucial role in documenting politically motivated violence before and in the run-up to the March 2008 elections, won by the MDC.
Mutasa is a member of the committee of security chiefs, known as the Joint Operations Command.
On Friday, Tsvangirai, in temporary exile in Botswana, said he would withdraw from negotiations to form an inclusive government unless more than 40 abductees were freed or appeared in court.
President Kgalema Motlanthe said last week he did not believe the MDC had been training insurgents in Botswana to topple Mugabe.

People want food on their tables, schools running and hospitals with medices and staff but they are busy capturing activists using money that can be used to save a child from starvation or from cholera. For example, you take somebody from their sleep and then film them saying you captured them wanting to over throw the government yet they were sleeping and not armed. Zimbabwe judge orders immediate release of activists

A Zimbabwean High Court judge has ordered the immediate release of local human rights campaigner Jestina Mukoko and nine other activists charged with plotting to overthrow President Robert Mugabe’s government.
Mukoko, a former newscaster who headed the Zimbabwe Peace Project, was picked up at gunpoint in Harare on December 3.
If found guilty, the activists could face the death penalty.
Judge Yunus Omarjee ruled that police release 32 activists. Nine of them, including Mukoko, would be taken to hospital for treatment and allowed access to lawyers and relatives.
Lawyers said there were allegations the activists had been tortured.
“Their continued detention by whosoever is holding them be and is hereby declared unlawful, and they should be released forthwith,” Mr Omarjee said, referring to 11 people the police deny are in their custody.
The case could fuel more doubts about implementation of a power-sharing agreement between Mr Mugabe and opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai, seen as a chance of rescuing the once relatively prosperous country from economic meltdown.
The opposition says abductions of activists have continued since a June presidential election run-off in which Mr Mugabe was re-elected unopposed after Mr Tsvangirai withdrew, complaining of attacks on his supporters.
Mukoko’s independent organisation monitored human rights and had compiled reports of violence at this year’s elections.
The activists were brought to a tightly-secured court in the capital Harare. They included a husband and wife and their two-year-old child.
The state-run Herald newspaper said the activists were accused of recruiting or attempting to recruit people for military training to topple the government. Citing a police statement, it said some of the activists had recruited people for training in Botswana, including a police constable.
It said the plan was to “forcibly depose” Mr Mugabe’s government and replace it with one headed by Mr Tsvangirai.

The facts on the ground reflect that there in no single system in Zimbabwe that is working ie health, agriculture, education and law and order. This is a fact. What measures did Mugabe put in place to protect the Zimbabwean people against the effects of economic blockage?. Nothing. I think Fungai is one of those who are just lost. Mugabe is using the colonial rhetoric to suppress his own people. When Smith was killing blacks we called it racism. When Mugabe kills blacks you still call it imperialism. What a shame. When we got our independence we thought we were free not knowing that Mugabe and his thugs think they own us. Its a shame that some of us who went to war fought for black freedom, one man one vote but that has been erooded by greedness seen in some opportunists. We now have leaders of war vets who never crossed a boarder to liberate the country. How many white are being tortured in Zimbabwean prisons if Mugabe is fighting whites? In democracy people should have oppossition parties that save as checks and balances. One thing that people like Fungai do not know is how much the Russians and Chinese do not like blacks. They are the worst racist in the world. Right now in Russia, black skined people are being killed. In China during the olimpics, they drove blacks out of the scene saying they taint the image of China. When China is giving Zimbabwe weapons, they know we are not at war with any white country but they know we will use the arms against our own brothers and sisters. Look at what China is doing in Sudan. CHina is taking minerals recources in Sudan in exchange of weapons and not anything else. In DRC, they are trading weapons in exchange of diamonds. Whay is CHina giving Zimbabwe weapons and not oil, food, medicines or all those commodities that Mugabe is crying foul by saying sanctions are biting. If Russia, China or any other country really like Mugabe, why are they not supplying what ever Mugabe was getting from the west. As it is, Mugabe is saying the country is suffering because of sanctions, so why is Russia not stepping in to make the west irrelavant and give Mugabe the recources he would have gotten from the west? Why is Russia violating dark skinned people? Why is China giving Africa weapons and not medicines? Funga, you say sanctions are biting we do not have medicines in hospitals, why is China nnot proving such basics if they really love Africa. China is the worst enermy of Africa because China is taking aways Africa’s minerals and ivory and trade with weapons. Its a shame that Mugabe has dicided to sacrifice his people in the name of imperialisms. LIberation parties in Africa have shown that they are poor economic managers and they should have handed over power to economic managers because they are still in a fighting mode and ZANU has lost direction.
