MDC to probe Home Affairs Minister,Mutsekwa accident
The Movement for Democratic Change party will launch its own investigation into the cause of Easter Monday evening ’s car accident that involved its Home Affairs Minister,Giles Mutsekwa.
A senior MDC official, said investigators are already on the ground to look into the cause of the accident. Two party politicians have already questioned the circumstances surrounding the accident.
Mutsekwa the Co-Minister of Home Affairs, escaped unhurt after he was involved in an accident just after the Macheke Bridge along the Mutare-Harare Road on Easter Monday evening.
Mutsekwa was driving from Mutare to Harare when the accident happened. He had just crossed the Macheke Bridge when a Nissan Patrol vehicle rammed behind his official Mercedes Benz. The Nissan Patrol came speeding from behind his vehicle and did not stop bumped into the back of the minister’s car.
Mutsekwa the long time Intelligence and Security chief of the MDC has since not suggested foul-play in the accident.
Meanwhile early reports from an investigation by MDC’s Intelligence Department suggest that a car crash which killed Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai’s wife Susan may not have been accidental.
New evidence unearthed by the investigators questioned the Driver of the truck’s strong links to the Central Intelligence Organization(CIO). The driver of the truck, which belongs to the United States Development Agency was taken into police custody after the accident.
Also in the report is new evidence that some ZANU PF officials knew about the accident before hand and also raising questions is why the MDC Security team was arrested and its equipment confiscated.
According to the investigation Tsvangirai’s vehicle was being escorted by a Central Intelligence Organization vehicle which, for no known reason, increased its speed and disappeared from view. Just as that CIO vehicle was out of view a truck coming in the opposite direction appeared and sideswiped the PM’s car.
MDC officials claim that no help was provided by CIO guards on the scene and when a white farmer arrived and began to film the scene he was arrested and his pictures were confiscated.
Several politicians have died in previous highly questionable road accidents.
