Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe e.V. is a German Christian non-governmental organisation, dedicated to excellence in the field of first aid, ambulance service, social service programmes and other projects in the medical and social field. The Federal Headquarters are based in Berlin, Germany.

Johanniter International Assistance is the department for development co-operation and Emergency assistance, implementing and supporting mostly health projects world wide. (www.thejohanniter.de)

In the past years the Johanniter team in Zimbabwe has been implementing a number of projects in the field of emergency medical supplies, hospital rehabilitation and support to a Home Based Care training programme for the victims of the HIV/AIDS pandemic and their relatives. Now, Johanniter is planning further activities in the basic health care sector.

Main responsibilities:
- Represent Johanniter in the country
- Build-up relations with donors in order to acquire funding
- Set-up office in Harare
- Carry out needs assessments within the programme if necessary and support programme evaluations
- Ensure that the programme remains within its original remit, budget and is in line with Johanniter guidelines
- Liaison with government authorities, donors, local authorities, UN and other organisations concerning the implementation of the programme, including legal matters
- Manage staff
- Co-ordinate and support field teams
- Manage and recruit local staff for the programme
- Maintain regular communication with Berlin office and within the Country team
- Prepare and write reports
- Work within the local infrastructure to ensure the programme is sustainable and, if appropriate, that operations are effectively handed over to local infrastructure
- Prioritise security, ensuring that guidelines are followed and adapted as required, that maximum preventative measures are taken and that the team is safe and well informed at all times
- Control finances of the programme, in conjunctions with the Administrator prepare amendments and new budgets
- Regularly visit project sites if security allows
- Support Media and Press work in conjunction with Johanniter spokes person

Required Experience:
- 3-5 years experience of working in the field
- Proven experience in project co-ordination, including financial management
- Strong and proven experience in acquisition of donor funding
- Networking with partners
- Experience in Zimbabwe is an asset
