arthur oliver guseni mutambaraHarare, October 20, 2009 – Zimbabwe Deputy Prime Minister, Arthur Mutambara has warned President Robert Mugabe and his Zanu PF party on stalling the progress of the inclusive government minutes, saying ‘Mugabe must shape up or ship out .’

Addressing a press briefing in the capital Harare ahead of a meeting with Mugabe on Monday, Mutambara who is one of the principles of the Global political Agreement(GPA), blamed Mugabe and his party for the constitutional crisis gripping the country following the suspension of government duty by the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) led by Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai.

“I will tell President Robert Mugabe in our meeting today that you are President because of negotiations and the GPA.If this inclusive government collapses you seize to be the President of Zimbabwe and you will be an illegitimate leader,” Mutambara said.

“No-one in SADC or AU will accept you as leader, shape up or ship out.You have limited options, let us find ways of working together.”

Mutambara said his party is equally dismayed like the MDC led by Tsvangirai on the inclusive government delay in the resolving of outstanding issues.

“The SADC commnique in January, before the formation of the inclusive government, is clear on the appointment of governors, the central bank governor and the attorney general. That document is binding,” said Mutambara.

Zanu PF has of late been arguing that the so called outstanding issues are not part of the GPA .

Mutambara said the country is in a constitutional crisis after the unwarranted arrest of Roy Bennett last week and urged SADC to seize the Zimbabwe crisis ‘immediately’.

The only problem with Arthur is that he is bi-polar, this man is amazing he swings from being a staunch Zanu supporter to blasting Bob the next moment. I doubt if he will do this sort of thing after the conference Welshman probably took him paside and told him “You will do no such thing Arthur otherwise that would be the last of you in our party!”.

He is the greatest joke in Zim politics! He has not yet transitioned from UZ student politics he still thinks he is president of the SRC addressing UBAs at the Students Union over late payouts.

this boy is just looking for supporters his PR is so poor, anywhere any bad publicity about mugabe is a plus for the nation,. This doesn’t change my belief that aurther is a zanu supporter.

The guy blamed Morgan for refusing to sign the “initial GPA” draft. If the final GPA document is having serious operational issues, we wonder what would have happened had Morgan signed the initial doc. Mugabe is a serious political gambler, serious indeed. Mugabe is a political mastermind. Do you know that when Mutambara was the SRC President, his blood brother was driving Mugabe? It was a strong rumour but it is difficult to dispute. When Dongo formed an opposition party, she was driving the late Sally Mugabe’s car. Mugabe is sophisticated.
