Pretoria – Zimbabwe’s Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) has called on the Southern African Development Community to proceed swiftly towards the full implementation of the global political agreement (GPA).
The party handed over a petition at the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) embassy in Pretoria on Tuesday.
The GPA is an agreement signed between Zimbabwe’s three main political parties, aimed at providing a map for the way forward. The agreement was signed on September 15, last year.
MDC spokesperson Sibanengi Dube said the party wanted the new chairman of SADC who is also the leader of the DRC Joseph Kabila, to investigate violence in Zimbabwe and make the 2002 report on violence public.
He said the MDC also wanted a report from the SADC mediation team to be tabled and for the SADC to clarify its role in mediation.
“We are not sure whether former president Thabo Mbeki is still a mediator…we want clarity on that,” he said. Key to the demand was the appointment of the governor of the reserve bank and the attorney general, which, he charged, President Robert Mugabe had made illegally.
“We still hope SADC will help to resolve problems in Zimbabwe,” he said.
The petition handover was organised by the MDC SA along with the Crisis Coalition of Zimbabwe and the Zimbabwe Solidarity Forum. – SAPA

Hillarious I must say. Very funny bunch of lunatics if you ask me. Whats wrong with these people. I can lead this party in a much more effective way if I chose to be a puppet. Hopeless and brainless bunch of apes if you ask me.
mfana@ Mukoma u think politics is a joke try to even run a soccer team and see whether you will be successful.MDC has shown what we call Maturity in Politics in all these past years.Viva MDC!!
“There was no reason for us to attach conditions to the calling of the countries that have applied sanctions to lift sanctions,” Zuma, SADC’s outgoing chairman, told journalists.
incase kana musati vaverenga nhau.losers
hee Zuma will be tough on Mugabe, hee Bob is now shaking. musatambe nemagandanga imi.
Musatamba navanamukoma kani. Munodhashurwa zvekamai rohwai zviye izvi.
Kabila being the new SADC president should be expected to deal with the “zimbabwe issue” as Mbeki, Zuma and Kgalema all did. It could be “brainless” in that there is no way Kabila can be impartial in the matter because we all know he is grateful to Bob for the millitary support in the DRC. That and the fact that MDC boycotted his parliamentary address a few years ago means there is no way SADC (read Kabila) is going to solve this.
Besides the above obvious reasons i have outlined above, i categorise Abel and Mukoma p’s celebrations as the usual farting in the wind that we have all grown accustomed to, fiddling and having senseless internet orgasms whilst their own kith and kin struggle to eke a living on less than a dollar a day. Now thats something to laugh at? May be i could as well put in my 2 cents like mukoma p on that sad situation “HA HA HA HA”
