South African producer DJ Cleo – who is revered by many in Zimbabwe and has been said to be working with some local artist – might be making popular hits, but some of his protégées say that behind the scenes his sexual behaviour is somewhat off-key, a South African tabloid has revealed.

Kwaito star Brickz, who has just parted ways with DJ Cleo’s label Will of Steel Productions, is among those who are throwing a ton of bricks at the hit maker and accusing the Mina Ngihamba Nawe star of sexually harassing his male musicians.

Brickz claims DJ Cleo doesn’t even mind tapping others’ buttocks in front of colleagues. He says DJ Cleo would spank them and caress them on the chin as if they were girls.

“At first I thought he was joking. It became a habit and that’s when I stopped him, but he continued doing it jokingly,” says Brickz.

The multi-award-winning singer blames DJ Cleo for his break-up with his fiancée, R&B singer and Muvhango actress Elle. He says DJ Cleo was jealous of Elle so he made her feel uncomfortable.

“I don’t know what his problem was because I met Elle through him. Every time I brought Elle’s name up he would change or sulk. I don’t know why,” says Brickz.

It doesn’t end there. Brickz alleges that DJ Cleo didn’t want them to bring girls to his house. He says if any of them did, DJ Cleo would make them feel cheap and dirty by giving them tainted looks.

“He would ask what these people were doing here and what we were doing with girls because he hates them.”

Brickz says DJ Cleo’s just plain gay, and “the sooner he accepts that the better”.

He says: “Anyone who has worked or lived with DJ Cleo knows that he is gay. There is nothing wrong with that, he must just come out and we will accept him like any other gay person.

“The guy has girlie tendencies. He sulks and is very moody.”

Another musician who was kicked out of DJ Cleo’s stable for allegedly stealing expensive cologne, Oscar Mgudlwa aka Mavo, claims DJ Cleo is either bisexual or gay because he has seen him spanking and caressing men.

The Moruti Wa Tsotsi actor and member of Afro-pop group Zonk’ Izizwe says: “He would just grab a guy from the back as if you were a girl and he does that a lot with his artist DJ What What.”

Mavo says DJ Cleo once spanked him on his bum but “I told him where to get off”.

He also alleges that the reason DJ Cleo kicked him out of his stable, was not because he stole his perfume: “I never stole anything from that guy. I told him to stop behaving like a woman and he freaked out and fired me.”

Mavo says DJ Cleo has many personalities: “At times he acts like a girl and the next minute he is a man.”

Mavo says: “He can’t be straight, that I’m sure of. He must just come out of the closet and nobody will judge him.”
