Dembare`s House currrently on Fire

dynDYNAMOS chairman Partson Moyo appears to have survived a boardroom coup to kick him out of office after it emerged that the legitimacy of the board of directors who apparently passed a vote of no confidence in him was questionable.

The unfolding boardroom drama has now started to affect the team’s operations with the DeMbare players and their technical team being locked out of their training ground at Prince Edward School because the club had not yet settled their bills for using the fields.

Dynamos lead the CBZ Premiership race by a point and have a crucial league match against Kiglon at Rufaro on Sunday but their preparations for that tie have been affected by the boardroom drama and problems related to their training ground.

There were problems on Tuesday when the Dynamos players and their technical team were locked out of the Prince Edward School grounds where they train with the school’s authorities demanding to be paid their outstanding dues. It was the same story yesterday and the school authorities only opened the gates to their training grounds for the Harare giants after a number of meetings with the club’s officials.

There appears to be a leadership vacuum at DeMbare right now, created by the boardroom drama, which was sparked by the decision by eight of the 11 directors to pass a vote of no confidence in club chairman Moyo.
The Harare businessman first quit his post last week, after a row with fellow executive members that also sucked in some players, but then had a change of heart and withdrew his resignation.

However, eight of the 11 members of the Dynamos board of directors decided to ignore his decision to withdraw his resignation and, instead, went ahead and endorsed his earlier decision to resign in an apparent vote of no confidence in their executive chairman.

The endorsement of his resignation, which he later withdrew, was a culmination of a lengthy boardroom battle by a militant group within the board that has been battling to kick out Moyo from his post as DeMbare chairman.

Ironically, Moyo and some militant members of that board of directors, clashed last year in a stormy boardroom battle in which the executive chairman threw his weight behind the board of directors led by Richard Chiminya.

The rebel board members, who were propping up another board led by club legend George Shaya that was battling the one led by Chiminya, have been brought into the mainstream board one by one over the past year.
