A new and dangerous parasite has been identified in Africa. It is almost exclusively found in Zimbabwe but has also been discovered in other countries on the continent. It is described as illusive and prone to devour living flesh. A leading entomologist described it as a species of maggot but with very different characteristics from that normally found in Africa.
Residents in Zimbabwe and some in the Diaspora have been reporting this danger for some time but the Government has refused to admit the problem exists despite the treatment and eradication costs being almost nothing. One resident when interviewed said that it is common knowledge in the community and that extreme care has to be exercised when going about the area. The maggots can be identified easily. They are usually of a Bloated appearance and display extreme arrogance. A further characteristic is their indifference to the suffering of their victims.
Investigations by undercover experts have revealed that the most dangerous places and habitat of these creatures are usually Prisons, Police Stations and the Reserve bank. However, caution is advised in all places where the Army, Police and CIO operate. The International Community is now aware of the dangers and has put in place measures to restrict the spread of the parasite. Further measure are due to be announced shortly.
Any residents with experience of these parasites are welcome to submit their suggestions on how to eliminate or control them.
