There is no set term limit for Police Commissioner General Augustine Chihuri and President Robert Mugabe has sole discretion to remove him, Home Affairs co-minister Kembo Mohadi said yesterday.
Chihuri’s term of office has been the subject of tense debate within the inclusive government, with Zanu PF resisting any moves to retire him. The two MDC parties were however pushing for the appointment of a new police chief.

The inclusive government has come down heavily on George Charamba, the permanent secretary of Media, Information and Publicity, ordering him to immediately stop dabbling in politics.
The principals to the Global Political Agreement (GPA) — which led to the formation of the inclusive government — agreed at a meeting on August 4 that Charamba should not overshoot his responsibilities as a senior civil servant by dabbling in politics.

DC supporters in Midlands South were last night attacked by a group of rowdy Zanu PF thugs led by Maguta soldiers at Musume Business Center in Mberengwa leaving three of the activists, including the driver, injured. The three, Cainos Shava, Artwell Chidya and Fidelis Rutsvara sustained injuries and were admitted at a Gweru hospital.
