
There was chaos at the Harare International Airport earlier this afternoon as hundreds of Akon fans waited for their icon to land. When he finally appeared from the terminal- not through the normal exit- just after 1400hrs, there were scenes of hysteria as people screamed his name, reached out to touch his hand and some burst into tears.

It was a brick of a wait, laced with copious amounts of alcohol. It must have been more people than the organisers expected. Hundreds of cars outside, hooting, flashing, revving. Thousands of people squeezing through the narrow entrance. Over 500 people in the VIP area. 3 000 spread out all over the rest of the grounds, waiting impatiently. When will this brick lace us with its presence?

Reggae fusion duo Brick & Lace landed in Zimbabwe’s capital, Harare just before 8pm tonight (23 August 2010). The Jamaican sisters, whose real names are Nyanda and Nailah Thorbourne, were quickly shown through the airport, past journalists who jostled for pictures and comments, and then rushed to the Rainbow Towers Hotel where they are staying

A last-minute appearance by Roki at the heroes’ gala at Gwanzura Stadium saved urban groovers who had not done the song they had been ordered to perform by organisers.
As part of the bill, urban groovers had been told by the Heroesplush organisers to sing Happy Birthday Zimbabwe but due to lack of coordination with the DJs they failed to perform it.

Zimbabwe’s biggest global festival Zimfest received a timely boost when telecoms Giant Econet agreed to become a headline sponsor for the event through their new UK MVNO operation Econet Wireless UK. The recently agreed package will see Econet Wireless UK granted exclusivity as telecoms partner to the event and will open up a number of cross selling opportunities for the two organisations.

His name is Philani Nyoni and is a former student of a once highly ranked Mzingwane High School,he is currently based in South Africa and on the verge of publishing a new book.Like many Zimbabweans in South Africa he is enrolled in a local university Witwatersrand University and he has a dream of seeing a new Zimbabwe with freedom of speech.We managed to publish some of his work for he is a talented man.

CHIREDZI – Colombian singer Shakira made a surprise visit to Zimbabwe yesterday(Sunday) and spent the day at a game park in Chiredzi.
The famous voice behind the World Cup song Waka Waka (This Time’s For Africa) landed at Buffalo Range Airport, in Chiredzi town, on a private visit.
The 33-year-old Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll was brought to Zimbabwe by an adventure company that operates lodges in the Gonarezhou National Park.
