Zimbabwe and Botswana officials are to meet this week to resolve a diplomatic stand-off over the detention of three Botswanan game rangers who strayed across the border, state media reported on Sunday.

The regional SADC tribunal court its 2007 land mark ruling in favour of white farmers in Zimbabwe remains binding despite claims by the Zimbabwean government that it is not bound by the judgement because it did not ratify the SADC treaty establishing the Namibia based court.

The South African Government will have to cough up hundreds of millions of rands in damages to a South African farmer, after the North Gauteng High Court this morning ruled in favour of Crawford Von Abo. Von Abo’s farms were seized, crops damaged and livestock killed in Zimbabwe as part of that country’s land redistribution programme.

‘The Appeals Chamber unanimously reversed ICC Pre-Trial Chamber I’s decision of March 2009, on the grounds that it applied an erroneous standard of proof. The Appeals Chamber directed the Pre-Trial Chamber to decide anew whether a warrant of arrest should be extended to cover the crime of genocide based on the correct standard of proof,’ the release stated.
