Bolton Wanderers are lining up a January raid for Benjani

beeeBritish sports news giant, Skyports.com reports that English premiership strugglers Bolton Wanderers are lining up a January raid for Zimbabwean striker Benjani Mwaruwari.

The Manchester City forward has struggled to establish himself at Eastlands due to a spate of injuries and Bolton coach Gary Megson has identified him as the player to rescue them from the dreaded prospect of relegation.

Although Benjani made a sensational start to his City career by scoring on his debut against bitter rivals Manchester United in the Manchester derby, the injuries have limited his appearances.

Adding to his already bleak chances, City’s new billionaire Arab owners sponsored a shopping spree of high profile players like Robinho, Emmanuel Adebayor, Carlos Tevez , Roque Santa Cruz, Craig Bellamy and others.

Sky Sports sources say Manchester City could be willing to accept a cut price 1,5 million pounds for Benjani. Other clubs interested in the Zimbabwe national team captain include Wigan, West Ham and old club Portsmouth.

Benjani is expected to be in the City squad that faces Hull City at the weekend. Its also worth noting that Hull manager Phil Brown tried to lure Benjani to the KC Stadium at the beginning of the season but personal terms proved hard to agree
