kirstyROME, Aug 1 – Kirsty Coventry seized gold with a world record in the women’s 200 metres backstroke final at the world championships on Saturday.

The Zimbabwean swam two minutes 04.81 to beat her previous best mark. Russia’s Anastasia Zueva took silver with Elizabeth Beisel of the United States in third.
