JOHANNESBURG, June 27 – Western pressure for President Robert Mugabe’s removal from office could lead to chaos in Zimbabwe, Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai said on Saturday, in comments that may discourage donors.
“This man is part of the solution, whether you like him or not,” Tsvangirai said in an interview, adding it was up to Mugabe, in power since 1980, to decide when to step down.
“If you push somebody out and you are not even sure what will happen when you push somebody out, then the result is unpredictable. Who is going to manage that situation? It could be chaotic.”
Western powers have welcomed Zimbabwe’s new unity government led by old foes Mugabe and Tsvangirai, but have made it clear they would prefer it if Mugabe was not in power.
Tsvangirai, who has just finished a tour of European countries and the United States which secured limited aid, said he would take measures to lure international investors, such as allowing majority foreign ownership in the mining and agriculture sectors and that such policies were under review.
“I’m very flexible. I’m prepared to allow majority ownership,” said Tsvangirai.
In another attempt to get badly needed foreign investment in Zimbabwe’s ruined economy, Tsvangirai said some state companies would be privatised.
He predicted industrial capacity would reach 50-60 percent within a year, a level that would enable sustained economic growth within three years.
On a less optimistic note, the prime minister said he did not expect to revive the use of the Zimbabwe dollar in the near future, keeping the country dependent on foreign currencies in an attempt to rebuild the economy.

…hell care not about wat the Diaspora says…Morgan may not be the best of brains we have but for once he is showing maturtity and stating the facts, its true Zanu-PF is Mugabe so pushing him out is dismantling the GNU. who knows wat follws, we Africans are one hell of a people. if u watch Blood Diamond, Sometimes in April, Tears of the Sun, Hotel Rwanda, u will understand wat i mean..seee wat is happeing in Somalia, DRC,Sudan then u will understand wat these so-called ‘GOOD SAMARITANS FROM THE WEST’ are capable of doing…lets be patient the old man’s days are numbered…so might say Mnangagwa and co. are there but the truth is that those guys dont even command a quarter of the old man’s support be it within or outside Zim…so maybe and maybe, PM have a point…ICHO!

I think PM has a strong point there, kumhanya sandi kusvika. Removing Bob, will be a strungle but lets face it the man is long gone, might need another year: then demetia kicks off. I think forcing him out nw, will give give the hardliners the status that they do not deserve.
Mugabe aparara lets give him TLC, help GRACE, then the man goes to rest peacefully l feel he deserves that. Gono and Tomatona whatever his name must be forced out. Otherwise MDC-T irikupera takatarisaso, Zanu-PF ishato, inobata mhuka yakayeverwa.

Im MT i see a great leader in the mold of Mandela. He bears no bitterness despite all he went through. Most of the Diasporans sing from the same hymn like Mugabe.
