THE Dynamos juggernaut rolls on. The Harare giants stretched their unbeaten run under the tutelage of Elvis “Chuchu” Chiweshe to nine matches after scrapping to this narrow defeat of Highway at Rufaro yesterday.
DeMbare were not at their usual best, but they showed that they are championship material by scrapping to victory even when playing badly.
The glamour boys’ leading hitman Cuthbert Malajila scored the solitary goal in the 27th minute when he drilled the ball past Highway goalkeeper, Mathew Wurayayi, who had spilled back into play, a Carrington Gomba free-kick.
And that was all DeMbare needed to please their faithful and to remain strongly in the hunt for the league title as they are now leading in the 16-team championship race with 32 points from 15 matches.
The Sunday`s victory was, however, marred by unsportsmanship behaviour from a DeMbare fan who threw snuff, “bute”, at Highway midfielder Willard Katsande’s face when he was on his way from the dressing room before the resumption of the second half, causing a delay to the restart of the match as the player had to be attended to by his team’s medics.
After the match the Dynamos coach said “We didn’t play well today. I didn’t know their (Highway’s) type of play so it was difficult to strategise because their players were all over pitch. But at least I have collected three points, which is the most important thing,”
On the otherhand Muradzikwa the Highway coach said ”The guys did their best, but they couldn’t score. They played a good game, but the defenders failed to clear the ball. In all the matches that’s what they are doing — playing well, but conceding silly goals,”

Lengthens ………………………….…0
HOST Eagles failed to utilise another chance of collecting maximum points when they were restricted to a goalless draw by Lengthens in a Premiership soccer match played before a full house at Rudhaka on Sunday.
The 10th minute saw Tsepo Rantokoana’s lovely curler being blocked by Philmon Gubudu with Muzondiwa Gonese, in goals for Lengthens, already a beaten man.Lengthens’ first scoring chance came in the 22nd minute when Tendai Nyamadzawo made a spirited run down the left flank before his pile driver was saved by an alert Eagles goalminder Knowledge Jimu.
Eagles could have gone to the breather in the lead when a good build-up, laced with delightful passes, saw former Mwana Africa striker Tawanda Mareya hit the upright post with a ferocious shot.In the 63rd minute, Lengthens’ second half substitute Artwell Nyanhiwa fed on-rushing Ronald Sengu, who shot wide with the goal at his mercy.
Underhill(1) Njube Sundowns (3)
The Soccer Star of the Year Evans Chikwaikwai was the toast of the day for Njube Sundowns when he scored a brace for the Bulawayo side in this lively Premiership match at Mucheke on Sunday.
Under the guidance of reigning Coach of the Year Philani Ncube, the visitors, who were bad travellers for the first half of the season, found the opener in the 21st minute.
Chikwakwai was left lurking inside the box by the Underhill defence and when Dylan Chivandire shook off his marker on the left, he sent an inviting cross that was met first-time by Chikwakwai with his right boot.
Sundowns coach Ncube was a happy man after collecting the full set of points. His counterpart at Underhill Patridge Muskwe blamed his strikers for failing to score.
