No one can doubt that Job Sikhala was the most quoted Member of Parliament in the opposition,he grabbed headlines mostly for the wrong reasons.

His legislative accomplishments are negligible but his wit and humour electrified Parliament.

When the MDC split in 2005 Job Sikhala stood out among all the MPs that sided with Vice President Gibson Sibanda.

He delivered the most blows on Morgan Tsvangirai. We publish here some of his comments during his 8 years in the limelight.Please add any you might think of.

“The people of Zimbabwe are now tired of anything fronted by a moron who
failed Form Two at Silveira Mission in Bikita, kuHarurwa uko,” on Tsvangirai.

“He was going to expose more truths that Tsvangirai has failed. If Jesus Christ was alive today we could have asked him to come and exorcise our president of the demon that is causing him into confusion today.” 2006 At a rally in Harare.

“I asked him whether he was aware that people in town were saying he was not qualified to talk about morality and whether he was aware there was a rumour in town that he had an intimate relationship with Alum Mpofu, when he was at Wits University and Mpofu at the South African Broadcasting Corporation.

“Jonathan Moyo became vicious, saying: ‘You MDC people are the ones moving around spreading these lies. I am going to fix you, young man.’ In his defense in court after being accused of threatening Jonathan Moyo.

“They then applied electric shocks to my genitals and tongue,the more I cried, the more they inflicted the pain, saying I had not cried enough. They would at times apply the electric shocks to my genitals, tongue, toes and fingers at the same time,they then urinated on me I lay on the floor at that moment I urinated myself also. Then they forced me to drink all the urine to dry the floor.Describing torturer at the hands of the army.

“It’s true and I can confirm that the Movement for Democratic Change received funding from Ghana, Nigeria and Taiwan”

“Mr Tsvangirai is a “chidhoma” (goblin) whose insatiable hunger for human flesh makes it unsafe for people to sleep.
“Go and die! Amai vako! (Your mother!)

“Vamwe vanhu vanorota hope dzezvidhoma. Hope dzekuti mangwana tinodya ani. (Some people dream like goblins that always plan on whose flesh to eat next.)

You go around and tell us not to participate in the (Senate) elections. Do they understand my relationship with the people of St Mary’s?”

“Some people want to be opportunists.Today you want to start a struggle at 55. Ibva! (Get away!) Never again shall I celebrate a dictator within the (opposition) party,” Nov 14, 2005 at a rally in St Marys.
