India have withdrawn from a one-day tri-series scheduled for Zimbabwe in July because no third team has been confirmed, Board of Control for Cricket in India secretary N. Srinivasan said on Wednesday,

“The visit to Zimbabwe was planned but has been dropped now as it was to involve three teams,” Srinivasan told reporters.

“They will have to find the third team for the series to be held.”

The BCCI announced last month that South Africa was the third team for the series but Cricket South Africa (CSA) called the announcement premature because the board had still to decide whether to restore bilateral relations with Zimbabwe.

CSA suspended cricketing relations with its neighbour in June last year because of the political turmoil in Zimbabwe.
