Arusha — The East African Community Secretary General Ambassador Juma Mwapachu has sent a message of condolences to the Prime Minister of Zimbabwe Morgan Tsvangirai following the tragic death of his wife.

“It is with great shock and grief that I have learnt of the tragic death of your dear wife, Mrs. Susan Tsvangirai, ” says the message.

Zimbabwe, says the message, has lost a compassionate leader and a matriarch to her people at a critical time of significant transition when her inspirational contribution was needed most.

“On behalf of the East African Community I extend heartfelt condolences to you, Rt. Honourable Prime Minister, and through you to the family, relatives and friends of the late Mrs. Susan Tsvangirai.

“At this moment of mourning and great sorrow we dedicate our prayers to you, the family, government and people of Zimbabwe and share with you the sense of anguish and unfathomable loss,” concludes the message.

Mrs Tsvangirai died in a road accident last Friday when a vehicle in which she was traveling, together with the Prime Minister, overturned several times after being hit by a truck.
