President Robert Mugabe says the car crash that killed Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai’s wife was “the hand of God”.
“It will take him time to recover from this shock. I plead with you to accept it, it’s the hand of God,” Mr Mugabe told hundreds of mourners gathered at a Methodist church in Harare today for a funeral service for Susan Tsvangirai.
The remarks were Mr Mugabe’s first public comments on the crash that injured Tsvangirai and killed his wife on Friday.
An oncoming truck hit their four-wheel drive on a potholed highway outside Harare, sending their vehicle flipping off the road.
Mr Mugabe and his wife Grace visited Mr Tsvangirai in hospital shortly after the collision, which had sparked speculation that the crash was linked to a long history of political leaders dying in suspicious accidents.
Mr Mugabe, whose supporters staged deadly attacks against Mr Tsvangirai’s Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) around last year’s elections, said it was time for Zimbabwe to move past the violence.
“We are doing our best that we create a conducive environment and tell our supporters that the issue of violence must end,” he said.
“Rest assured we are with you, honourable prime minister. Our hearts on this day and the days to follow, we are with you,” he added.
Susan Tsvangirai will be buried tomorrow.

My concern is the association of USAID to all this…. so are they also saying those who were killed in accidents with army trucks (eg Ndangama, Ziyambi, Chris Ushewekunze to name a few) were killed by the army? This USAID drivers Mwanda and Muchirahondo’s cases will just be like Khetani Sibanda’s case (who was said to have killed Can Nkala)…. The world forgets and move on, its only the family that will keep remembering Cain. The courts failed because they know the exact people who did it.
If the govenement knew nothing about circumstances leading to Morgan’s crash, why did they arrest photographers? Whats there to hide? They wanted to plant a “pot hole” that was not there during the time of crash?

danny you are foolish like mugabe, really his crocodile tears aren’t needed at all. We are just politically mature that we even gave the murderer mugabe a chance to speak at the memorial service. The fact that Tsvangirai has said that there was no foul play, signifies his willingness to work for peace in Zimbabwe. We all know that zanu kills and foul play is written all over this accident, just answer why the photographer was arrested and the MDC investigators.
We will never forget what mugabe has done to us Zimbabweans, and we live to celebrate when he will leave us on this earth and go to his relative the devil in hell.

Khetani Sibanda was broad casted live on TV admitting to have “killed” Cain with shoe laces. So where is Khetani now? If Khetani showed policemen and Barwe where Cain’s body was and explained how he killed him, why was he not charged of murder? If it was proved that Khetani was innocent, so who knew where Cain’s body was?
Its ok to forget the evils of ZANU PF and move on but its not okay for the families not to see justice being done. Its also instills the culture of immunity amongst the killers. Those who believe in teh innocence of ZANU PF thats ok they shouuld do so till the day they meet their fate like Gezi and Manyika who used to defend the thugs as if they were fighting for their own lives yet they were exposing themselves to “accidents”

We hardly ever see pictures of the man and yet there he is at the scene of a controversial event which, if there is any truth to the assasination rumours, begs the question what did he feel he had to do at the clinic? If he was doing his job he should have been at the scene of the accident in Beatrice. Kana iye Mugabe wacho how can they show such caring for Tsvangirayi and yet vanaNdira na’naChiminya, ana Jongwe vakaponda? Chachinja chii? Hanti musi uno Mugabe kusanyara akada kupinza more than the required 15 ministers pa-swearing in?
