The aim of OSF-SA’s Media Programme is to:
• Help create, defend and strengthen the media environment in South Africa
• Improve the quality and content in media
• Improve civil society access to media
The ideal Director will:
• Be an individual with strong strategic, operational and project management skills;
• Have a relevant post graduate degree;
• Be a person with excellent research and writing skills and proven skills in advocacy and policy analysis;
• Have sound knowledge of the media environment in South Africa and the region.
The Director will have the following competencies:
• Extensive knowledge and working experience in the media environment
• Experience in civil society capacity building and network building
• ability to conduct reviews of prospective partner programmes
• The ability to strengthen and build partnerships with national and international organisations, government departments and other donors
• An inspirational leader with the ability to conceptualise and formulate new programme ideas
• Budget management skills
• 8-10 years experience
• Superior interpersonal, writing and organisational skills
