Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) governor Gideon Gono on Monday launched a book in which he chronicles his experiences as governor of the Zimbabwe’s central bank.

At the launch Gono made a revelation that President George Bush offered him a job as an economist at the World Bank.

“Just as I was being dragged to the UN Security Council to be put on the sanctions list, I was offered a job by the World Bank as senior vice president,” Gono told guests who attended the official launch of the book.

“This was with the full blessings of none other than George W. Bush himself and the US Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice.”

“In my humble book that we are here to launch, I dwell not so much on my personal history, but mainly on shedding light on the deep philosophical drivers that shaped the orientation and conduct of the RBZ’s monetary policy programme under my watch over the past five years,” he said.

“As I rolled my sleeves to get down to work from 1 December, 2003, I was to be confronted by the sobering realities of our economy degenerating into a literal casino, driven by individual and, in some instances, collective greed, indiscipline, corruption, deceit and general lack of unity of purpose among stakeholders.”

The book is entitled “Zimbabwe’s Casino Economy” and is being published by the Zimbabwe Publishing House (ZPH).

Hehehe! A book on how to seriously make a mockery of such a high level of office huh? You mean they wanted to offer Gono a job so that he could forewarn anyone who dared to make anything close to the mistakes he has made? … One more question just to make sure… um, does Gono himself know what a fool he has made of himself, like, really?

Well done mr Gono – Is it a good book a bad good – only one way to find out.
The Recording of events and facts is paramount. I will definitely read your book.

A question would it not be cheaper and less wasteful to introduce small gold and silver coins.
