Developing story
President Robert Mugabe ‘s ZANU PF has finally conceded the Ministries of Finance and Local government to the MDC according to well placed sources,a move that could see a cabinet being announced over the weekend.

The development comes as the MDC yesterday called off a meeting of its national executive council at Harvest House fuelling speculation that it had been cancelled because there had been positive movement on the deadlock with ZANU PF over sharing of Cabinet posts.

Home Affairs cannot remain with ZANU PF for now. They currently do not know how to use power to benefit the people of Zimbabwe. If they want Home Affairs, let them have it after the next elections, we have to reorganise the society. Let them keep the Army so their fears may be contained. What we want is to bring Zim back to her feet. In the following 1 or two years, no matter how maimed we have been by ZANU PF, let us concentrate on rebuilding Zimbabwe. ONLY after this, our next priority may become JUSTICE for innocent blood shed under the ZANU PF regime – NOT NOW. If Zanu takes Home Affairs and the Army, then Chaos and looting will surely remain.

ministry of finance and alone is not enough, please ensure that one of the security ministries is controlled by the MDC, especially the Home Affairs which is a correctional centre. history tells us that this has ot belonged to the ruling party since time immemorial. all sorts of evil against innocent civillians will definitely continue. there is an urgent need to resucitate the Police as well since they have not been discharging their duties constitutionally. surely why should Tsvangirai work with a partisan Police [Zanuists] they will surbotage him, mark this.

if Tsvangirai is not careful, then he will be used to reconstruct this economy that was deliberately crippled, why should a reasonably upright person accept such a deal that gives only the economic potfilios without security. that is impossible gentlemen. MDC should insist on Home Affairs and send people like Chihuri [who proclaimed their partisanship in violation of his constitutional obligation] to resignation. Let there be no deal than such a bad and devlish deal. Tsvangirai must learn to live within his proclamations.

The ministries that are non negotiable for MDC are finance, local government and home affaris. Without these ministries MDC should just quit the game and let zanu pf go it alone – and see how zanu will fair. However, if MDC is given these portfolio, this would be the beginning of demise for zanu pf. zanu will crumble, it will left exposed, MDC will be able to penetrate all the areas without any hindrance. With the new constitution ensuring the level political playing field, mugabe’s old age and cracks within zanu pf, zanu pf will be history in 5 yrs time.

Is this a threat or a promise?
Chihuri is not a Commissioner of police by any stretch of the imagination and has done nothing other than destroy the ZRP to turn it into a party organ for the supression of Zimbabweans!

I think though, that the next Commissioner should be chosen on his or her ability to police – not any sort of political affiliation. We do not want to continually perpetuate partisan party politics through the officers of the ZRPolice – we want policeman and women who will uphold the law and protect the lives, rights and property of all Zimbabweans without any bias.

Checkout my blogspot for more on the ZRPolice.

Look scarface told you a long time ago-this is old news to me. Give us something worth reading.Mugabe is not conceiding anything , they are sharing responsibilities.I know all the outcome of this nonsense that is going on. Soon they will agree to all the issues and we will move on. Mugabe will go ahead and form a gvt in any case with or without the MDC -T. MDC-M might get a look in in that set up.Its always MDC_T that dilidalys and wastes time when it comes to decision making. They have to consult and agree with their masters. The people who matter are zimbabweans.I already know the whole outcome of the ministries issue , but i am not prepared to share with scavengers who want to derail the progress we have made .Try reading news on zimbabwesituation website and the gloom and doom there will suffocate you. They love to see zimbabwe sink rock bottom.Who runs that site-black or white?

I want one person with a bit of courage to go face to face with morgan and ask him whether or not he signed a good deal. This guy has simply failed. No o levels and no hope. How will he understand fiscal policies macro economics etc ..more doom and gloom.education is king.He must put education top of his agenda and attend night school. Its not too late.

I do not see why Mugabe would accept any concession. In his sick mind he is the Liberator and has therefore all rights.
If Tsvangirai agrees with this rotten deal and gets no real power, 10 years of political struggle will have been lost for Zimbabwe.
If he sticks to getting Home, Finance, Local Governement AND Justice AND Information, then he should accept. But I do not see much hope. AU and SADC are on the side of Mugabe.

The leaders of Zimbabwe need to understand that the world is in a major recession and once they stop the petty power broker bickering and assuming they have a stable government and operating enviroment ——————-how much appetite will the world and investors have for zimbabwe-investments and capital projects world wide have ground to a halt due to the world recession
it is essential that an internationally acceptable political position is established so zimbabwe can join the long lines for cash investment

Time and time again you defend this fool. Morgan has failed your party , why cant anyone see that. Even his biggest supporter the Trade union says this deal should be stopped. Why then do you loose end supporters think morgan can do no wrong. What you should do is get together and tell him he has failed and Biti will replace him. While you are at it please sack Chamisa too. Where did you get that cowboy?

For us in Zanu pf we will never go to sleep because we dont trust morgan and his ways-period. For now lets work as one to help the suffering caused by whatever you choose to believe because we see things differently. The fact of the matter is you are now in this deal so you have to make it happen. It does not matter how much you hate Mugabe…It does not matter how much i hate morgan. The situation requires a 700 billion dollar scenario where all parties have to forget their differences for a while -of which there are many.lets get the poor sorted for now and we can squabble next election.

For me its Zanu pf 4 life-till death.Thats my choice and as you all know we live in a democracy. If the mdc do not want to be involved in this new gvt then please make your excuses and leave.see ya!!!

without sanctions even scarface can run the reserve bank-there is nothing complicated about simpe economics.Who is better off scarface with his masters degrees or morgan without o levels? Would you trust someone without o levels to run your business? Why then trust him to run the country?

Its like someone without a driving licence -would you feel comfortable if they drove you? Only a fool would feel that way…so you are all fools expecting morgan to understand complex deals that need signing. What about the rest of the fools that represented him at the negotiations? Who is blaming them for advising morgan badly? If you cant question your leaders now-they will think its ok to misbehave and disregard your opinions when they are in power. What you are failing to do today will come back to haunt you tomorrow. Dont forget i told you first…..

Mbeki has become the special one in zimbabwe. He is now a part of us for ever. In most countries if you have made a contribution there for some time, sometimes you are given citizenship of that country. I say to president Mugabe lets give Mbeki his zimbabwean citizenship due to the amount of time he has spent in zimbabwe and the contribution he has made.We can even give him the minister of finance job or home affairs since its becoming such a fuss.If all else fails we can give him freedom of the country -not city!!! His approach to our dire situation was impecable -the man of quiet diplomacy. He left his job without even kicking a fuss. This man is a legend…let it be known.

  37. Baba says:

Yet the challenges are daunting. How can the new government put a check on inflation that is so preposterously high and re-inject value into a now-worthless currency? How can it create an environment that will lure back investors with their desperately needed capital? And how can foreign donors – both multilateral and the international financial institutions – be persuaded to take a chance on Zimbabwe when Mr. Mugabe, who oversaw the destruction of one of Africa’s strongest economies, remains the president?

Economists say the new government must quickly end its squabbling and immediately stop the Central Bank from printing any more money; at the same time, the treasury must halt all off-the-books payments for items such as cars for Mugabe loyalists.

“They will have to restore the credibility and discipline of the Central Bank and financial sector as a whole – they have to stop the money-printing madness,” said Tony Hawkins, a professor of economics at the University of Zimbabwe. “It is going to take some time for hyperinflation to come down.”

At the same time, the government desperately needs some real money – foreign exchange – to pay its bills, including the civil service payroll, and to try to rein in the crazed inflation rate. But the foreign exchange will be difficult to acquire: The only source is multilateral donors, who, while cautiously congratulatory about the power-sharing deal, are not rushing into Zimbabwe with cheque books in hand.

“They will need structures of accountability and to restore good governance; at the moment the structures are not there at all,” Prof. Hawkins said.

The International Monetary Fund is the likely source of balance-of-payments support, but Zimbabwe has been blacklisted by the IMF since 2000. The country has a $4-billion (U.S.) international debt, run up through the crisis, and an abysmal credit rating.

The second step is to start to revive the key, now frozen, sectors of the economy. Commercial agricultural – primarily the production of wheat and tobacco – was once Zimbabwe’s main source of foreign exchange. The sector has nearly collapsed since Mr. Mugabe’s highly politicized land distribution program began nearly a decade ago; farms were expropriated from skilled farmers, usually whites, and given to supposed veterans of the country’s war of independence (but often, in fact, to cabinet ministers), none of whom knew much about farming. At the same time, the government maintained Draconian price-and-import controls that destroyed small-scale farming and left millions of people without food.

Scarface. An extract from what you are so happy about reading. How many of these things that need to be changed do you think that your baboon head mugabe will go for.The answer is zero.

There will have to be a land audit to establish who is where, whether people have multiple farms, what land is not being used – it is a daunting task.” And politically incendiary. The mining sector, one of the few that has kept operating, though at less than half capacity, is also poised for growth, if regulatory issues are sorted out, said Jack Murehwa, the chief operating officer of Zimbabwe Platinum Mines, the country’s largest platinum mine, and former head of the Chamber of Mines. “The slowing down of production in the mining industry is due mainly to matters related to monetary policies and the legal framework. CAN YOU SEE THAT BABOON ACCEPTING THIS.
