South Africa’s deputy President Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka tendered her resignation following the axing of President Thabo Mbeki by the ANC.

A government official yesterday said he had personally seen a resignation letter Mlambo-Ngcuka wrote to Mbeki before the start of last night’s emergency cabinet meeting at the Union Buildings.
But Mlambo-Ngcuka’s spokes- man, Denzil Taylor, denied this, saying that she was still very much part of government.
“There is no letter of resignation from the deputy president. She is flying to Cape Town today on a government engagement,” Taylor said.
It is understood that Mlambo- Ngcuka has decided not to make her decision public until an acting president is named by parliament.
As deputy president, she was theoretically the most obvious candidate to replace Mbeki.
But because of the manner in which she was appointed deputy president, supplanting Jacob Zuma, many in the party do not want Mlambo-Ngcuka to take over.
Also complicating matters for her is that she is married to former director of public prosecutions Bulelani Ngcuka — a man Zuma supporters blame for “persecuting” their leader.

its quite encouraging to note that there r some countries in Africa where a President resigns….and his deputy too!

Africa this an example to emulate. Democracy at its best not one party and country leader for 28 years doing a horrible job of managing the country with absolutely no consequences. Zimbabweans we should be ashamed of ourselves.

suppose mdc was in power and the mdc youth forced morgan to step down in favour of biti-would you consider that a democratic process. The youths threaten war if morgan does not step aside-how can this be considered an exmple to Africa.Mbeki has been forced to step down and that is not a democratic principle—–period.
Its no different from regime change agenda in zimbabwe. The best democracy is people led-through the ballot box.Mbeki should have stayed his full term-there was no need for all this fuss in my book. Dont forget i told you !!!!

Asi Scar une point!
But kuenda kwake asinganetse kana kupomera mhosva is also commendable. History will show who was right and wrong. Remember what happened to Kwame Nkurumah? Now most Ghanian’s weep over him. But at the time of the coup, he was vilified.
Ngatitarisei chokwadi se zvachiri, kwete kusasa zvatapuwha na nhingi. Thats what CDE TEBURU TSVINA GWENZI MUPOSTORI fights for in these forums.

It is good for this madam to go as well. When women change dresses we expect them to change the under-wares as well. Let this dirty under-ware be thrown into the washing basket, remember that it is more dirty than the dress.

there is no democracy in SA because the head of state is not determined by the people, but by a group of few people
