BULAWAYO – Zimbabwe’s oldest chief, Khayisa Ndiweni passed away Wednesday morning at his home in Ntabazinduna village.
The paramount chief “passed away peacefully” at 97-years of age just three days after celebrating his birthday.
A chief since 1939, the Ndebele chief was described as a “family man, who cared about and loved his family, his village and his church” and who took “good care of his obligations” not only to his family but the family of his wife and other relatives. Mourners are gathered at his Ntabazinduna homestead.

SORRY TO FAMILY. RIP.

My condolences to the Ndiweni family. The consolation is that God gave him such a blessed long life. He will be sorely missed, and his contribution to Zimbabwe must not be forgotten.
Chief Kayisa Ndiweni, uMkheswa, was the president of the now defunct United National Federal Party, UNFP whose headquarters were at Sanlam Building, now Africa House on Fife St/10th Ave, Bulawayo. Zephaniah Maybin Bafanah, (R.I.P 1994), was its national chairman.
Chief Khayisa had a front seat with Joshua Nkomo, Robert Mugabe, Bishop Abel Muzorewa, (R.I.P 2010), Ian Smith, (R.I.P 2009) and other nationalists at the Lancaster House Constitutional talks, UK. Zephaniah Maybin Bafanah sat just behind him, and together helped shape the soon to be born nation of Zimbabwe.
The principles of the UNFP are the buzz word in Zimbabwe in 2010, “Devolution of power”. I sincerely believe that had the UNFP won the elections in 1980, (disbanded soon after) or even continued in politics, Zimbabwe would certainly not be the country it is today. UMkheswa was a principled man, and stood for the people even to his death. I salute him. He is a true hero, and should take his rightful and restful place at the National Heroes acre.
May his spirit truly rest in peace.

My condolences to the Ndiweni family. Everyone of us was touched by The Chief in one way or another. His passing is a loss to us all but not a complete one because a part of him will always be with us. He left a legacy that we should pass on to the next generation.
I consider myself blessed to have shared words with a Legend
Rest In Peace KHULU

Rest in peace.
For ZANU PF its wrong to lion President Mugabe to make him a lone fighter who fought colonialism single handedly. It was a collective effort. Some genuine fighters were thrown into the bin after independence.

To the Ndiweni Family and the Ntabazinduna community, ayilale ngengxeba, inkosi ingathi ingaphumula ngokuthula. What a great loss before this monster Robert is gone, who will defend us ffrom all his atrocities, Kheswa you were the only man left in the Matebele leadership who could tell him where to get off as he does to the west. Your spirit must ever live with us and lets hope those who will take over from you will follow your unselfish legacy. Long live your spirit and we will continue emulating your democratic ideas, it is a pity that no one amongst this dictatorship leadrship we have understand what you lived for.
