The MDC notes with concern attempts by Zanu PF to derail the party’s efforts to provide the people of Zimbabwe with a new information platform launched last week. The audio service, dubbed the Voice of Real Change, is meant to give the people of Zimbabwe a new and exciting platform to know what is happening in the country and in their party.
However, the service has since been terminated and suspended after Zanu PF, through the regulatory authority put pressure on Econet to block some of the lines used for the service.
Within three days of operation, Zanu PF threatened cellular phone service providers, Econet Wireless, Net-One and Telecel with closure following the MDC’s use of cellular lines for the audio service. It is heartening to note that the other lines, Net-one and Telecel lines used in the audio service have not been blocked and continue to operate without any hindrances. The Telecel and Net-one numbers such as 0734142600 and 0713 102 917 have not been blocked.
It is telling to note that our service was disrupted hard on the heels of a threat to one of the cellular phone service providers by one Nathaniel Manheru, who is widely believed to be a senior but misguided civil servant in the Ministry of Media, Information and Publicity.
These political threats on our audio service are a threat to plurality and the basic freedoms of speech and association and we will not take them lightly. As a party, we value the need for Zimbabweans to have many platforms to converse and interact. Our audio service is not a violation of any laws of the country, but provides a new, unique and exciting platform for Zimbabweans to exercise their basic freedom of speech within the law. We believe in plurality and a multiplicity of voices across the spectrum. We believe in the sacrosanct right of Zimbabweans to exercise this right without any fear of self-appointed demi-gods who have a penchant to stifle democracy and reform.
Under the MDC new information platform, Zimbabweans will call a set of cellular phone numbers which include Econet, Net-One and Telecel lines. The numbers will immediately cut off and our call-back facility will ensure that people are called back to receive various options in all languages. The options will include, news round-up, President Morgan Tsvangirai’s weekly message, the MDC’s position on the Constitution making process, party events and a feedback platform where Zimbabweans can leave their messages to the party.
The MDC will continue to fight tenaciously for the people’s right to enjoy this exciting service. The opposition to diversity and pluralism should not be allowed to stifle this unique experience for the people of Zimbabwe.

Zimbabwe’s politics is very confusing – a party which has caused untold suffering to the people is constantly being thrown a lifeline by the other party which purports to represent the majority of the oppressed. Are the people in MDC unable to see that they are being taken for a ride by ZanuPF? I think it’s all to do with preserving their cabinet positions at any cost by MDC.

Shephered people like Abel are not worth debating with, what has the issue of who is ruling got to do with the topic. He knows that zanu is on borrowed time and is the most unpopular party in this world. All he is doing is trying to test your emotional side so that we are taken away from the subject topic. zanu is scared of losing the elections they really know that they will not ein the upcoming elections and that is why they are blocking the voice of real change. We are not scared of zanu anymore and their tricks are tired so is the limping goblin. Come elections after the constitution making process we will be talking a different story.

Why is there no word about rule of law? We are instead told GNU is working even when we are told of increased violence?

Think on it – strategically- they think in terms of absolutes – war is armies wandering around – like its not 2010 and things have moved on from those days – No you must be a victim only so the abuse can be photographed – as if the world cares.

They think in terms that Zanu JOC will launch a Rwanda style genocide when in actual fact they are swallowing the opposition a bite at a time – a killing here an arrest there – then going to SA saying – we want to comply with GPA but lift Sanctions –
The opposition cry dictator but it seems Zanu JOC can produce sufficient evidence of outside interference that the opposition dont want to seem like open belligerents to SADC and the rest of Africa like Savimbi. or the rebels in DRC. and their backers.
Now the end game – if SADC say 2011 are free and fair and Zanu wins – then what?
Rather than think ahead the best they can do thus far is Makumbes strange talks – increased Western intransigence over sanctions which just enhances African support for Mugabe – more reliance on a crooked SA government – and press conferences telling about how once again Zanu JOC stole their sweets. Wait soon the civil society lot like WOZA will be told to march and be getting more awards –
The only reason the present state of affairs exist is because the international donors want ‘a safe set of hands in place’ -so its only Morgan – even though real democratic parties are driven by policies not individuals or cliques (imagine the creators of ESAP and HIPC now the champions of ‘democracy’ in Africa???_)
The point is who is leading the fight for freedom in Zimbabwe – its not Harvest House as Jendayi Frazer filled us in – only delivery justifies position in that place.

Your analysis is very contradicting particularly when you mention about who is leading the fight for democracy yet you go on harping about policies. In reality arent policies driven by personalities even though they espouse principles. You have been bleating about what Jendayi Frazier said since kingdom come, but the truth is the fight for democracy has begun whether Tsvangirai fails to deliver they will be another person to replace him. In your case concerntrate on ZANU-pf I see your input into these forums is becomming perverted. You must be some kind of voyuer who is gratified by what one handler said.
