Posted by Harare, Feb 7: A recent report has revealed that Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe is so paranoid about his security during his foreign visits that he pays a special allowance of 5,000 dollars a day to his guards.
Editors Note: President Mugabe doesn’t pay the guards…they are paid by the Treasury..so Zimbabweans are paying for these bloated allowances.!!
Mugabe, who turns 86 this month, keeps a crack team of security officials from Zimbabwe’s secret service, the Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO), who were assigned to keep him safe during his official visit to Switzerland, Italy and Denmark.
The President uses the team, as he has twice been a target of an attempted citizen’s arrest, and has enemies among Zimbabwean exiles forced by economic collapse to leave and find work overseas.
According to The Times, Director-General of the CIO Happyton Bonyongwe submitted the request to the Treasury on October 1 2009, stipulating that the “allowances equivalent of 10 days must be paid in cash” to the “seven crack officers of the advance team to Switzerland”.
Each officer accumulated a total of 50,000 dollars in cash, and the money was theirs to keep, a perk of the job, and they did not have to account for it on their return to Harare.
While, for his visit to Rome , less important members of the huge entourage were paid 2,000 dollars a day.
It is believed that the entire visit cost the cash-strapped unity government 1.4 million pounds.
In any country, 5,000 dollars a day would be considered good money, but in Zimbabwe, where most of the population lives on less than one dollar a day and a teacher or nurse earns five dollars a day, such sums are beyond people’s wildest dreams.

Its just a calculated way of bleeding the coffers of the Inclusive government so that there is no money left for service delivery. This expenditure, together with a well calculated massive expenditure of sending over 1000 ZANU(PF) children to South African Universities every year, shows how ZANU(PF) would want to drag MDC-T into the failure pit. Now Civil Servants are on strike and just read the Herald to see how they seem to celebrate on the failure of GNU as if they are not part to it. If they are not part of GNU one wonders why Mugabe claims to be the President of the country because any failure is his failure. The best solution is to have free and fair elections supervised by UN so that there is a proper government in the country not this half man half fish thing.

Why is this old man so cruel, he must just resign now and enjoy the few months of his life left with his wife and adopted children. Propably ask for forgiveness, we Zimbabweans we will forgive him. It was rumoured that Kamuzu Banda, the former Malawian Life President, was long dead before his actual death. What people saw in the office was just a shadow. Mugabe is actually young at 86 years (1924 to 2010), the goblin will fly to Lake Malawi for renewal. The truth is that all these things shall come to an end. Goblins are not forever.

When he fought the liberation struggle he fought as a Zimbo so now why cry foul? this guy is a devil period hes an African thats for sure bt where exactly he is from in Africa is unimportant.
