Masvingo – Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai’s Movement For Democratic Change(MDC) has fired Masvingo mayor, Alderman Femius Chakabuda from the party for having links to Zanu-PF, corruption and switching political allegiance.

Party’s Masvingo provincial chairman, Wilstaff Sitemere confirmed the dismissal after Chakabuda the mayor was found guilty of the charges at a Friday disciplinary hearing.

Sitemere said: “The provincial disciplinary committee sat Friday and came to that decision after a two week probe on Chakabuda. Chakabuda dished out residential stands to friends and relatives, bought himself a Mercedes Benz at a time when workers at council did not get their December salaries.”

MDC-T suspected that Chakabuda had strong links to ZANU PF after he appointed ZANU PF members in the council to influential positions.

Chakabuda confirmed the suspension, but refused to comment further.

MDC-T is dealing with corrupt officials both at home and abroad to bring sanity to the party.
