Posted by Masvingo January 18, 2010- ZANU PF representative in the Joint Monitoring and Implementation Committee (JOMIC), Oppah Muchinguri, was booed at a meeting held here Sunday after she said Zimbabwe did not need foreign intervention into its affairs.

She said she was against the idea of referring outstanding issues in the inclusive government to the Southern African Development Community (SADC), the guarantors of the global political agreement that gave rise to the formation of Zimbabwe’s coalition government.
“Let us solve our own issues alone, why should we turn to SADC? Why not resolve our own problems alone, than to involve SADC, Britain and America. Did Britain refer its problems to Zimbabwe for solving? Britain and America have their fair share of problems,” Oppah said, much to the anger of the MDC-T MPs present.
Masvingo Urban MDC-T legislator, Tongai Matutu, said Oppah’s remarks were very suicidal and counter productive, considering that she is a member of JOMIC.
“Thai is very suicidal and counter productive, you got it wrong auntie. Revise your position, otherwise JOMIC would be useless,” Matutu answered back shouting immediately after Muchinguri’s remarks.
ZAKA West Member of Parliament, Festus Dumbu, also joined in, shouting that Oppah should sit down and stop talking as she had ‘nothing to share with us’.
“Sit down now, you have nothing to share with us. Is that what you called us for? That is rubbish,” Dumbu said.
Other MDC-T MPs also heckled as Muchinguri tried to go ahead with her presentation, forcing her to cut it short.
The year-old JOMIC, a watchdog of the unity government, was formed under article 22 of the global political agreement which provides for the creation of a monitoring mechanism for the proper and full implementation of the letter and spirit of the agreement.The 12-member JOMIC consist of four members from each political party in the inclusive government.
Muchinguri, co-chair Nicholas Goche, Patrick Chinamasa and Kembo Mohadi are on a ZANU PF ticket, while Innocent Mangoma-who co-chairs on the MDC-T side-also represents his party with Elias Mudzuri, Thabitha Khumalo and Innocent Chagonda.
The Authur Mutambara led-MDC is represented by Welshman Ncube, Priscilla Misihairabwi-Mushonga, Frank Chamunorwa and Wilfred Mukosi.

Oppah is a suitable presidential material, she has got the thunder and the steam. Her problem is the label ZANU PF. I once knocked into her office without making adequate notification and she was not rude. She knows the facts but on a public stage she has to sing the ZANU PF song.

President Mugabe claims to be a President of Zimbabwe but at his home there are bold signs that tells a common man to keep away. The closest distance to Mugabe’s Mercedes Benz is at Least 100m for a common man. If a car breaks down in Borrowdale Road near the State House the penalty for the offence is severe beating by soldiers. Unlike other politicians, Oppah greets people at her rallies. She does not say that there is a fear of cholera outbreak. She is like Magaret Dongo but she cannot speak her mind because if she does so ZANU PF will split and Mugabe will have problems. The problem for Oppah is that her ZANU PF feeding trough is very dirty, therefore religiously she is dirty.

Oppah is a fighter. Genuine freedom fighters did not go to war to fight white people but they fought a wrong system that favoured only a selected few. I see Oppah as a genuine freedom fighter. In ZANU PF there are people like Mutasa who are frustrating everyone in order to show that he is senior in ZANU PF. Recently in Manicaland Oppah told Mutasa in face, to be correct eyeball to eyeball communication, that current farm invasions are destructive. When the journalists came for the mouth-watering story Oppah played low. If ZANU PF had many women like Oppah and Margaret Dongo, Zimbabwe would not have decayed this far.
Oppah’s political roots are in ZANU PF and that is her serious problem. Those who know her personally admit that she is presidential material. All the males in ZANU (Mugabe included) decided not to marry her because they see that she has a spine and they cant control her.
