This is a Announcement from the ZCTU. Hat Tip…Violet Gonda. (Ed)
UPDATE: The five people who were arrested yesterday – ZCTU President Lovemore Matombo, Michael Kandukutu, Percy Mcijo, Dumisani Ncube and Nawu Ndlovu – are still behind bars. Indications are that they are going to be charged with contravening POSA – holding a meeting without notifying the police. They are likely to spend the night behind bars again and appear in court tomorrow.
Meanwhile, more than 15 ZCTU activists who were arrested in December 2008 at the height of cash shortages during a peaceful demonstration organised by the ZCTU have been summoned to appear in court tomorrow (10 November). However, according to law the summons are supposed to be issued 14 days before appearance in court but they were only served with the summons today late morning.
It would seem that cases against ZCTU that were considered closed are being revived as also the case that the ZCTU leadership and some staffers were being accused of misappropriating foreign currency is set for court on 23 November 2009. The case had been thrown out for lack of evidence but the matter is now being revived.
We will keep you updated of further development
Dear Colleagues,
The Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions President Lovemore Matombo was last night arrested in Victoria Falls while addressing members of the ZCTU Victoria Falls District. He was arrested together with the whole District Executive and two ZCTU staff members Michael Kandukutu and Percy Mcijo.

They were later transferred to Hwange police station.
The ZCTU President was on a tour of the country meeting ZCTU structures and the Victoria Falls meeting was the first meeting of his tour.
We will keep you updated of further developments.

We will now hear some morons saying this is an outstanding GPA issue, and clever Bob will release them and say he has conceded one thing so the MDC-T must also give one in return. How some morons get outsmarted by an old man.

And some morons keep on asking why the west are not removing the so-called sanctions or restrictions.
These people are not a threat to the security of the country but are the voice of the voiceless exploited workers.

sanctions are not important, we must get our priorities in place. Mathibili and Morgan should stay at home more. You will be suprised at how much you can save by sending a minister instead of these chaps.

And while we are at it, I think the MDC -T must disengage from Gvt in protest over Matombo’s arrest.Dont you think?

Matu, what are you disputing here of the things I mentioned. Just spewing your name here means nothing. Say what you want to say.I know Mugabe is not as intelligent as people think, he seems to be intelligent just because he is competing against intellectual and political midgets like Morgan.

abel you are as thick headed as your master mugabe, your level of debate has stooped so low to the level of charamba and jonathan moyo. I am glad you agree that mugabe is not intelligent, so may you advise him to let intelligent people like Tswangirai and Biti take over the country. He has failed us and arresting ZCTU officers is inviting tightening of sanctions against zanu if you idiots don’t realize. tell your boss to come back from China because he has 15 days to meet with the Prime Minister and President Zuma.
