I could probably wrote at least a couple of thousand words on this very subject – but today I want to look at the periphery of Mugabe’s kingdom, and how he uses these associated wings of his administration to the best of his advantage to queer the MDC pitch for clear and transparent democratic rule.
The first of his associative bodies is the police – the Zimbabwe Republic Police – a force that I was once a proud member of. Within the Police Act, the constitutional act under which the police force is regulated and governed, it is stated as a prerequisite that officers have to be apolitical.
Apolitical means without any political bias towards any particular party. This, when I was serving in the ZRP, was one of the easiest requirements as I had absolutely no interest in the politics of the day.
But today the ZRP is headed up by a ZANU PF maverick, Augustine Chihuri, who, in typical pro-Mugabe fashion, ensures that the officers under his command toe the ZANU PF line.
How can I be so sure of this? Simple. Look at the land grab, now ongoing for nine years. The seizure of farmlands has been littered with violence, theft and murder. The numerous reports on the internet openly state that the ZRP, whilst being present, have not lifted one finger to assist those being beaten, stolen from or killed.
No one has been prosecuted for any of the political deaths in last year’s reign of terror visited upon the MDC by ZANU PF – even though the perpetrators have been named.
Yesterday, an article in the press stated that the author of a dossier detailing the events during the election last year was questioned at length by Mugabe’s secret police, the Central Intelligence Organisation.
The war veterans – those aging people that were active during the bloody bush war against the Rhodesian security forces during the 1970s – are also allowed to perpetrate whatever acts they like upon the people of Zimbabwe. The leader of these brigands is not even a war veteran! But he has adopted that persona and that is that!
Two weeks ago, we read about him brandishing a firearm whilst orchestrating the eviction of an old lady from a disputed household in Gweru. In Zimbabwe, the last time I checked, it was illegal to brandish a weapon in a threatening manner. I wonder whether he even has a licence to own the weapon…
The security chiefs – commonly referred to as the Joint Operations Command (JOC) – openly defy court orders, norms of practise – and have even threatened to go to war against the people of Zimbabwe!
They refuse to salute the Prime Minister, Morgan Tsvangirai, because, they say, he has no chimurenga credentials – meaning that he never partook in the bush war. Even though many of their own do not have any of those credentials either!
The whole spectrum of Zimbabwean politics is stained by the ZANU PF reliance upon loyalty – and the need they have to reward that loyalty with the “spoils of war”… the farms, luxury motor vehicles and important public offices.
But there must be an end to this reign of mercenary behaviour, and there will come a time when the ZANU PF upper strata begin to fall off their perches naturally and move on to meet their maker.
More and more people are becoming aware of the falseness, the illegality of Mugabe’s rule, the plunder and theft conducted not only against the people, but against the country. It will happen that one day ZANU PF will no longer be able to warp any election result, and they will begin the slippery slide into oblivion.
And that day can’t come soon enough.

Mr Ellis sir , I was in the Rhodesian Army I WENT AWOL on 20th of February 1977, I HEADED straight to my home village of Gwelutshena in Nkayi District . On the 3rd of March I was to make the journey back to Balla-Balla knowing very well that i was to face the no-nonsense MPs at the base.But that was,nt to be cause whilst i was with a few locals waiting for the bus which offcause there was no time table,you can only geuss who pitched-up before the bus ,I found myself lookin straight on the burrel of an´AK47,the very people which i was trained to kill,unknown to everyone was who i was,to my surprise nobody cared although i was still in my SIJUZI hair-cut.IT WAS TO BE THE FIRST TIME I HEARD THE WORD POLITICS THAT DAY !WE WERE FORCE-MARCHED TO A VILLAGE THAT WAS 50KM FROM THE BUS-station ,there was aPUNGWE .I must confess i was the strongest guy around that pungwe& was the most spooked-up of the lot , THE REST IS HISTORY ,WOULD PREFER WRITING A BOOK, I ended-up in ZAMBIA and come back to R-ZIMB-based in GWAAI A.S.P my POINT SIR IS IF THE BLACK POLICE&EX- RHODESIAN PERSONAL UNDERSTOOD ANY THING ABOUT POLITICS THEY WOULD HAVE DESERTED IN SUCH LARGE NUMBERS MOSTLIKLEY WITH THEIR SERVICE WEAPONS ,so its simple the RHODESIAN -GORVENMENT understood the game of keeping the armed-forces APOLITICALany idiot would have known that.PERIOD!

Dizzola, did you desert or you were force marched to Zambia. There ia no army or police which is apolitical. The only difference for example in US is that they protect the US Capitalist system (the US national interests) and not politicians or a particular party or faction of the party as in Zimbabwe. Obama must have discovered that for him to be where he is its because the US system helped him and as such “holy wars” like the one in Iraq are necessary. Come back home to Zimbabwe, the so called “people” are nothing more than a group of very few greedy ZANOIDS who do not care a bit about running down a country through looting to themselves. The white system that Mukopma Pedzi so hates knows how to take care of itself without destroying the economy. We have “Great Hall” at UZ , Andrew Flemming Hospital (remember what it is called now?) all operating through trust funds donated by the people who benefited from the system. In Zimbabwe a Robert Mugabe project only exists in name (remember “Presidential Scholrships” in South Africa) but the funds all come from the state. Mugabe was not even ashamed to travel to Malawi to have a road named after him yet it was funded by EU. Mugabe himself never put a penny on it. How about Philip Chiyangwa, a guy who likes everyone to think that he is rich. Have you heard of Philip Chiyangwa Hall? Well maybe in terms of the pregnant Harare Girls High school kids whom he helped to reproduce. In summary, Mukoma Pedzi and your friends, know that supporting the devil does not pay. I doubt whether yourself you have much to gain otherwise you wouldnt spend time on the net than enjoy the benefits of the looting. Shame on you.

I am beginning to feel that the majority of contributors here are from the notorious Selous scouts or pfumo jena of the late seventies. Everyone fighting a different war, united by the common enemy Bob, the mountain. When I am an old man and MDC eventually comes to power, thats when they will realise that they are as different as oil and water.

By the way, where are the Chinese? Where is the US$900 million we were told Gono had secured from the Chinese who even old and senile Mugabe barked about? Why is the ZANU(PF) propaganda machinery no longer talking about the “comrades” in SADC especially after the DRC summit? It only shows the type of isolation and lack of support. Imagine, an old man with all the money from Gono to buy votes, with all the state propaganda loses to Morgan Tsvangirai. He then resorts to cold blooded murder to install himself President. And then say “I am powerful” Sorry guys you are mad.
